There's also, evidently, a statement by the purported victim floating about which contradicts the alleged crime. I know that you saw Amand's post to that effect.
Whatever the facts, that's not the agenda here at this board now. Altogether different as there's a compelling need amongst Pakistanis to deflect attention from Mumbai.
That's clear by Kharian Beast's comment about Mumbai being justified in light of this alleged crime. So too Captain O3 just above. Nevermind that Mumbai preceded it.

I personally am not a fan of rape threads. Its a common feature in Pakistan and India and it really needs to be fixed but Kashmir is different. It's our people there being brutalized by an occupation force. The Indian occupation army of Kashmir is akin to a marauding horde.

In the Indian narrative of progress and development, the North East has always remained in footnotes. While mainstream media rarely takes notice of the violence caused by Indian Army in the North East, recent outpour of extreme resentment at the military forces did shake both the media and the state as forty Manipuri women --twelve of them naked-- stormed the Army headquarters in Imphal, holding signs that read “Indian Army, Rape Us!” Thanglam Manorama’s brutal murder by Army personnel was the source of anger for the protesters. Manorama’s murder is far from being an exceptional case in Manipur where rape, abuse and murder are everyday realities. In their brave protest, Manipuri women
shamed Indian army by parading the very female body that brought humiliation and death to their sisters. With their raw anger and amazing mobilization, these women refuse to get knocked down by the ‘rape culture’that enables the ‘victor’ to demoralize their victim.
The human rights violations in Manipur are, in fact, sanctioned by the state in the form of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, which gives enormous powers to security forces. AFSPA has been operative in Manipur for over four decades and has given unaccounted power to the security forces to search, arrest, detain or kill anyone on the basis of suspicion--of course all in the name of ‘maintaining public order’. The abuse of power by security forces has resulted in incidents of arbitrary detention, torture, rape and killing.
The systematic misuse of AFSPA is discussed at great lengths by Amnesty International in the report “Official sanction for killing in Manipur”(1998):
“By conferring broadly defined powers to shoot to kill on the armed forces, this law has fostered a climate in which the agents of law enforcement use excessive force with impunity. A pattern of apparently unlawful killings of suspected members of armed opposition groups has resulted
from the systemic use of lethal force as an alternative to arrest by the security forces. Civilians, including women and juveniles, have been among the victims of killing or wounding by security forces.”
As though special powers are not enough, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act goes on to provide the security forces protection from prosecution! The Committee on Human Rights has documented 55 selected incidents of arbitrary killings by security forces between 1980 and 1996 --none of the cases
have been resolved till date.
Invasion of women’s bodies is another consequence of the privilege and power enjoyed by security forces in Manipur. Countless incidents of molestation and rape go unreported, while few women who do report do not get fair hearing. Miss Rose (1974), Neelam Panchabhaiy a (1986), Tamphasana (1990),
Ahanjaobi Devi (1996) tried fighting legal battles against their rapists but all of these cases were dropped on the grounds of insufficient evidence. Amnesty International gives a disturbing account of the façade of justice in Manipur:
“Despite consistent allegations of widespread human rights violations in areas of the northeast of India where the Act is in operation, to Amnesty International’s knowledge, no member of the security forces has been prosecuted for a human rights violation.”
Besides the threat of violence, women in Manipur also have to contend with the threat of sexual abuse by the armed forces. Not to speak of the social stigma attached to rape that doubles up the sense of guilt and insecurity.
Masculine military privilege and its visible aggression in Manipur can only be understood in terms of an ancient war tactic which uses rape as a tool to control and dehumanize the ‘enemy’. Given the misogyny of the state, we must start looking at spaces outside the state for solution of problems. As Manipuri women take their struggle to streets, they have become an inspiration to everyone suffering and fighting patriarchy. In struggle, together!

Place:-Komarchuburi, Dhekiajuli, Sonitpur.
Registered Case No:- Dhekiajuli Police Station-150/97, u/s- 376/354 IPC.
25th July '97: A group of Army soldiers raided Village Komarchuburi in search of an ULFA activist and forced every villager who could not hide or was not bed-ridden to gather in the center of the village. When this was going on, two Armymen forcefully detained Miss Mamoni and her mother in their house. First, both Army jawans tried to molest Miss Mamoni's mother, but she managed to escape. Then one of the Army jawans picked up Miss Mamoni, took her to the kitchen and raped her. When her sick grandmother tried to protect Mamoni, one of the Army men kicked her with his boot. After the incident the Army jawans gave a ten rupee note to Miss Mamoni.
FOLLOW-UP
Mr. Umesh Koch, father of Miss Mamoni, who was immediatly informed about the incident by her wife, made a complaint to the officer in charge of the operation. The Army officer called his group and the culprit was identified by Miss Mamoni in front of the Army officer and other villagers. Latter, Mr. Umesh Koch filed a case at the Dhekiajuli Police Station. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sonitpur District also examined the F.S.L. report. The Dhekiajuli Police recorded the statement of Miss Mamoni Koch under 164 Cr.P.C. The case is pending at the court.(G R 997/97) Local units of AASU (a student organization), AJYCP (a youth organization) and Mohila Porishad (a women's organization) arranged wide public protests demanding that officials punish the culprit and prevent such incidents in the future. AJYCP called for a local strike on 26th of July from 12 A.M. to 3 P.M. and the AASU unit called for a 'black out' in the evening from 7 P.M.to 9 P.M. On 25th of July hundreds of local women organized a protest rally in front of the D.C.'s office and submitted a memorendum demanding the punishment of the culprit. The Army Brigadier Mr. K.K. Kohle, the Deputy commissionar and the Suptd. of Police of the Sonitpur District also visit the house of Miss Mamoni Koch to enquire the incident.

NEW DELHI, March 18: Three Indian Army officers deputed to the United Nations peacekeeping force in Congo have been accused of rape, The Indian Express said on Tuesday.
It said a lieutenant colonel and two majors of the Indian Army, seconded to the North Kivu brigade of the Mission of the UN in the Democratic Republic of Congo (Monuc), were detained last Wednesday by South African police after a woman resident of Plettenberg Bay in Pretoria charged them with rape.
“They were away from Monuc headquarters in Kinshasa on a holiday to Pretoria,” the newspaper said, adding that it was the first time Indian officers on UN mission were accused of rape. India, it said, has the largest contingent in Monuc with more than 4,300 personnel.
Indian security personnel are part of peacekeeping missions in Sudan, Ethiopia and Lebanon.
The three officers were picked up from a hotel in Mossel Bay on March 12 and kept in police custody for more than a day, according to the Express report. It quoted unnamed sources as saying that the incident was first reported to New Delhi during a meeting with a South African delegation on defence cooperation last week.
An officer from the Indian Embassy in Johannesburg was rushed to Plettenberg and the three were released from the police station.
Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony has asked for a report on the incident on how the officers managed to go to the “unsecured place” while on assignment with the UN.

Let's not. We are only concerned with Kashmir. How they handle their soldiers elsewhere is totally their own concern. Our concern is when it affects our own people.google is full like these storyes i can't post all of them
