Hmmm- you know it's a strange thing...countries usually get business because they have some sort of 'competitive advantage' and as far as I know cheap labor is supposed be one---wonder why that is so

ORly? For earning more then 20 x the average wage of an Indian, we still are one of the strongest in car mfg. Of course our car mfg companies have built dozens of factories in foreign countries to serve the local markets, but the high end cars are all manufactured here. Cars that India will not be able to mfg. in 50 years.

BTW, we are only a 80 million folk, India has 1.2 billion.

Yeah so losing those jobs won't be a problem for you...I recommend that VW shift all it's production (including high end cars- we make nuke submarines so making a few 'high end' cars won't be a problem) to India to remain competitive...you don't wanna lose your hard earned position to, say, the Koreans, Chinese or tata do you?

Production in India is problematic. Red tape, corruption, shoddy infrastructures are all adding to the production cost. Just compare the FDI of China and India of the last 10 years and you will find the reason. Even little Germany receives more FDI than India.

Stating facts is not anti Indian but you know most of the people living in west do not compare their countries with India. Germany is a developed country with high living standards why bother comparing to a developing nation?

We still have the local and neighboring markets to serve and not everyone in Europe is rich enough to by BMW 7 Series or Porsche. What our car mfg. companies manufacture in foreign countries are for foreign markets. VW and Mercedes does have factories in India, albeit not as many as in the US or China because those markets are a few times bigger and it's easier to make money there than India.

Don't worry, we wouldn't be at our position if we don't know what we are doing.
