To give Indians credit: I suspect they know this is a bridge too far -- Indians are not stupid -- Why would be waste their precious money on a project that has such low likelihood of success. They's already have rented the Afghans for a few dollars, why on earth spend another cent.

you have to give it to the Chinese -- the way the work is beyond comprehension. Plus they do in a relatively low key manner [you never hear of China Shining or Make in China or chupan-inch-ki-chatti or sipih-salar] -- honestly, sometimes its scary to comprehend the scale of what the Chinese have done. If you ever witness the super cargo ships that bring the stuff over from China or run into Chinese Grad students in hard sciences -- it is almost awe inspiring. My daughter is definitely learning Mandarin.

Comparing China's offshore development record with India is like comparing apples with oranges. India is acting way out of its league. It cannot compete with China in offshore developmental projects. It is only a knee jerk reaction on India's part. India doesn't have the capacity nor the ability to challenge China in this area.

I mean not to discount what some Indian Industrial, Tech empires have done: like the Tatas, Hindujas, Mittals which by any standard is admirable.

but the Chinese are on a different scale -- if you sometimes sit to think about it -- it is almost mind boggling.

Iran has historically ties with India. Modi has no part in it.

No doubt .I am not blaming Modi infact i am admiring how he approach Muslim World , ME and Iran.It is our own elite to be blame .

Actually i never knew this word is a slur. I used to live in a flat with my Hindu friend from pakistan and he used to call himself banya so many times occasionally in term of money matters. Will avoid it for sure if its a slur.
