India slow to expand Iran port

Chinese are also slow in developing oil fields !

But agreed...

Indians have good relations with US/Israel & they won't mind ...

You really need to think this one out.

Think what role India has in the nuclear deal, and the easing of sanctions. Problem is your IRGC is highly suspicious of India, and our interests in Afghanistan only converge in checking Pakistani influence. Yours go a step more to pre-dominanace of your own influence, which is where the odds between India and Iran crop up a bit.

Yes, one can argue India wants influence in Afghanistan. But that will not go along a sectarian route, which, an increased Iranian influence is likely to result in due to other complexities of Iranian foreign affairs.

However, the thing has started a few days back. Lets see.

@nair
Keep a note of this please. Another aspect of the broader picture.

No doubt .I am not blaming Modi infact i am admiring how he approach Muslim World , ME and Iran.It is our own elite to be blame .

Actually i never knew this word is a slur. I used to live in a flat with my Hindu friend from pakistan and he used to call himself banya so many times occasionally in term of money matters. Will avoid it for sure if its a slur.

It is not a slur, being made one.

Baniya is any merchant as per hindi language. Please do not change yourself due to misplaced ideas.

I know -- it's like the N* word -- it is a word that should not be used.

I've seen Muslims use the word for themselves too -- but if it all it should be a badge of honor -- being smart with money is no shame but sadly it is used in a derogatory fashion.

Agree Modi smarter than Pakistani elite and Jurnail sab ... and much much smarter than Ghani sab ... lol

India is just good at telling big tales

The problem here is this

Those with anti Pakistan stance / designs seek out India hoping that India will deliver a fatal blow to progress in Pakistan on the other hand India seeks out those with anti Pakistan stance / designs hoping THEY would deliver a fatal blow to progress in Pakistan

Niether is able to do so and Pakistan soldiers on :pakistan:

We must remember to slap Afghanistan for threatening us with this port option

Tell them after 2016 all pak crossings are closed

.
To give Indians credit: I suspect they know this is a bridge too far -- Indians are not stupid -- Why would be waste their precious money on a project that has such low likelihood of success. They's already have rented the Afghans for a few dollars, why on earth spend another cent.

build the chahbahar port as an option for the afghans
now do the afghans make use of it ? it is another story

Why wouldn't we use it ? The traffic via pakistan routes has already dropped significantly. It has dropped because we are slowly finding alternative and cheap routes and also routes which are not dependant on Pakistani mode swings.

I don't know much about the authors but I can tell you these the work on the project has taken pace and the Afghan traders are happy with the way things are going thus far.

It is a question of whether Afghan government can establish its writ over the Southern part of the country to keep the transit route open

It is our duty it is our country, we are losing men on daily basis to keep these routes open.

@SOHEIL project might be delayed due to several factors from Iran nuke program to economic conditions in India.. It is funny Pakistani members every time bring chins to compare with India.. Despite Sanction on Iran.. India imported oil from Iran.. both countries worked out finding solution for payment.. most funny thing about them is, if you support India- they will abuse you and call you traitor.. if you support them, they will praise you.. When Pakistan is not capable to deal with such project .. they better to keep quite.. moreover most of CPEC funds flow into energy projects under a condition sovereign return..

Duty and Ability don't generally mean the same thing.

Duty is a weaker and unmeasurable concept
Ability is a much stronger and generally measurable concept.

There are questions if Pakistan can secure the Western corridors of the CPEC -- it is a matter of ability first ... duty may also be somewhere in there.

.
let's not use slurs like Banya -- it is a slur used in South Asia and is hurtful and should be condemned.

On Modi -- let's give credit where it is due ... Modi may be a butcher of Muslims but he is a smart butcher

Hats off to Modi -- this time he's kill more Muslims than Gujrat by having Muslims kill Muslims and with just showing dollars

Who're the idiots here? Not Modi -- Not Modi

I mean not to discount what some Indian Industrial, Tech empires have done: like the Tatas, Hindujas, Mittals which by any standard is admirable.

but the Chinese are on a different scale -- if you sometimes sit to think about it -- it is almost mind boggling.

I agree with you...Let us give respect where it is due.

China plays in different scale and league. I think India and its involvement with Chabahar is more towards linkage to Central Asia. I think at some point of time, China will get involved in this project. And again, there is nothing wrong in it. If India would have got an access through Pakistan, then even India would not have thought about Chahbar...

Chinese are also slow in developing oil fields !

But agreed...

Indians have good relations with US/Israel & they won't mind ...

I do not think Isarel impacts India's foreign policy to the extent as it is projected. Of course i can well understand about US as US is too powerful enough to even contested....

Fact is India and its execution of projects outside is always slow..It is nothing to do with some one is putting pressure on India...If you think other war around, at least US should support India because Afghanistan will be independent and have additional option to use Chahbar port for its own usage

INdia here is obviously afraid of violating and getting complicated in the US- sanctions on Iran. China also slowed oil field development to appease US in UN. These are the games these big guys all play.

.
Iranians must understand Indians make a living out of selling lies. 3rd world gutter state is not able to tackle projects of such magnitude.
