India seals Rs 70,000 crores missile deal with Russia : MOD sources

Cruise missiles like Ra'ad and Babur quite hard to counter with sam. They may only effective against old type ballistic missile and even missles with MaRV and MiRV easily penetrate these systems.
These systems are quite capable for subsonic low flying Ra'ad and Babur, also it can / will create a no fly zone over half of the Pakistan territory. In case of MaRV and MiRV, It could be difficult to counter too many targets at a time, but i donot believe that Pakistan will push in it's MiRV(Which it actually doesn't possess) to counter a system like S400 which would be highly guarded with Barak 8 and Akash as second and third level of cover.

I am just enjoying the fact, that no Pakistani is even feeling like speaking about there Ulitimate DSI tech Junk fighter and F16 aproaching the runway to counter S400 :devil:

Can S 400 track ballistic missiles across pakistan in its booster phase ?

Track whole of pakistan or half of pakistan ? If its placed iin border area ?
It depends on where actually the system is placed, Normally these systems are placed around 50km to 100 km inside the territory to keep it safe from artillery showers.

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) In what could easily be said the biggest ever defence deal with Russia, India has stitched a contract to acquire S-400 anti-ballistic missile systems from Moscow at a cost of around Rs 70,000 crores, top sources in the Defence Ministry said here today.

The modalities, including the price of deal and number of systems to be acquired, were agreed upon in the meeting of India-Russia Inter Governmental Commission on Military-Technical-Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) which concluded today in Moscow, with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar co-chairing it jointly with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu.

The mega deal, along with an agreement to get another nuclear submarine, is likely to be formally signed during the visit to Russia of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who would be travelling to Moscow sometime in December for an annual summit with President Vladimir Putin, the sources told UNI.

How much it will be in US-D , INDIAN 70 ruppes CORRORES ?
& is UNI official Russian news source from ministry of defence ?lolzzz
This is what we call, firing the empty shells , to let kids sleep well ?

Baba padori ,
Are you believing a Pakistani fake news launched by UNI , just to give India credit , so it can get SU-35 s ?

Tracking depends on the Radar which this system will use. If Swordfish is mated with this, then whole Pakistan can be tracked. And if the new Israeli LRTR ( as PSK says ) then IAF can track region beyond Pakistan.

Some food for thought (again from another forum source)

We know we need 12-15 system with elements of S500 and make S400 triumf with Israeli radars and indian missile to S400 triumf MKI

It depends on what package India will choose as a system. There are 6 possible options for each individual system:
1 - Full Regimental - 4 Battalions 4 Batteries (4 TELs + 4TLV) each.
2 - Shortened Regimental - 2 Battalions 4 Batteries each;
3 - Shortened Regimental - 2 Battalions 2 Batteries each;
4 - Shortened Regimental - 4 Battalions 2 Batteries each;
5 - Full Battalion;
6 - Shortened Battalion.

Third batch of equipment for S-400 missile regiment arrives in Russia's Kamchatka - Missile ThreatMissile Threat

Gadeshi is a bit off, initial Regimental sets in Russia had 2 battalions & 4 batteries each, latest regimental sets now have 3 battalions. So a full regimental set is actually 3 battalions with 4 batteries (4 TELs + 4TLV) each as per Russian deliveries. Cost wise, regimental set of 2 battalions & 4 batteries each goes for 500 million, the Chinese ordered 6 such regiments for 3 billion, makes sense. So a full regimental system of 3 battalions will cost 750 million. This is the set-up that would make the most sense for India since it would allow 1 battalion in the regiment to play offensive during actual maneuvers and cover moving ground forces, since a battery can be up to 100 km away from command center. We can easily have 12-13 Full regiments for 9-9.75 billion plus another 1.25-2 billion for TOT, make in India, set-up of facilities etc.

As showed by Random radio, 13 regiments can easily cover all of India and Andaman.

No amount of money can make that happen.
May be 2017 end ?:undecided: If we'll not get the prototypes then how will IAF start inducting them by 2022 ? We at least need 4-5 prototypes for FOC..
I am very optimistic about FGFA deal now, I think we'll have something concrete after December meeting.

Yes you are correct. What would be interesting is that is India keen to cover the whole of subcontinent along its border or not as shown by the pic (courtesy vstol jockey posted earlier). So yes regiment configuration is something which will decide the true extent of this configuration for complete coverage or partial coverage.

An interesting point i was wondering was one of the components of S400 triumf series is
The 9M96E medium range missile (40 km), flying altitude 20 km, weight 333 kg. Active radar homing head

Now we know that
Akash is a surface-to-air missile with an intercept range of 30 km. It has a launch weight of 720 kg, a diameter of 35 cm and a length of 5.78 metres. Akash flies at supersonic speed, reaching around Mach 2.5. It can reach an altitude of 18 km and can be fired from both tracked and wheeled platforms. Mark II of the Akash missiles that will be upgraded by a longer range (35km) and sophisticated seeker. (The IIR seeker will pick up the heat signature of the aerial threat and target it while the microwave based one will lock on the offending object through the radar signatures of the object.)

I was wondering why not GOI/MOD concentrate only on
1. The 40N6 very long range missile is capable of destroying airborne targets at ranges up to 400 km
2. The 48N6DM long range missile is capable of destroying airborne targets at ranges up to 250 km
3.The 48H6E3/48H6E2 – The 250/200 km, target speed 4,800 metres per second (17,000 km/h; 11,000 mph; Mach 14)/2,800 metres per second (10,000 km/h; 6,300 mph; Mach 8.2), rocket speed 2,000 metres per second (7,200 km/h; 4,500 mph; Mach 5.9)
4. The 9M96E2 extended range missile is capable of destroying airborne targets at ranges up to 120 km (75 mi), flying altitude 5 m to 30 km,
5. The new anti-ballistic missiles 77N6-N and 77N6-N1 inert/kinetic anti-ballistic capability to the system.The same missiles will also be used by the S-500, which has a clearly stated anti-ICBM role
(courtesy Wikipedia)

I mean the envelope of 400km/250km/200km/120km and KP kill vehicles 77N6-N/N1 series only.

Technically this allows us to replace say 9M96E by Akash systems (MK1 and MK2 possible), that actually frees up the TEL and TLV for these missiles and allows us to carry more of say either of 400/250km missiles. This also assimilates our Indian BMD program integrated to S400 Triumf MKI system. Now whther it can be done or not can be best told by Russians only.. (But then i believe its possible..)

What would be the implications of India not being a member of MTCR yet? Will India's acquisition be capped at 250 km ?
