In contrast, even Turkey can upgrade its own F-4s and F-16s. That is because India is still dependent on Mother Russia for technical expertise and for parts. After 10 years, India still has not become familiar with the technology of the Su-30MKI.

India’s War Designs — Myth or Reality?

Asghar Ali Shad

India’s neighbours must be alarmed by yet another sizeable rise in its defence budget — it has
gone up to a worth $ 38.6 billion. (Dawn, March 19, 2012). Indian Finance Minister, Pranab
Mukhergee presented the budget on March 16, 2012. More than 17 percent increase is no doubt
a matter of concern for the whole region, especially, Pakistan.
The writer may have forgotten, when hes talking about India, he is referring to the second largest standing army, fourth largest air force and only blue water navy in Indian ocean. All three branches are plagued with obsolescence. With rise of chinese military might with its satellite proxies, 17% hike in defence budget seems highly inadequate.

On commenting this, neutral
experts have said that, on the one hand, the Indian Army has started military exercises near the
border area of Pakistan, while on the other hand, the Indian army chief, only a few days back
had told his Defence Minister A.K. Antony that they have a stock of ammunition for only two
days in case of war with any country.
Again the author seems to generalizing stock of artilerry and anti aircraft ammunition with general war fighting ammunition. there is a big difference in both. Also it will not take more than two days to replenish the stock if push comes to shove situation. India has enough trusted allies that can replenish everything from laser guided minuitions to UAV in weeks notice to enure peace and stability in case neighboring army wants to have fancy dress invasion party.

Our analysts are of the view that political and military leaderships claim India to be the
flag bearer of regional peace, security and stability. In addition to it, establishment of longstanding
peace at international and regional level is on top of their agenda. However, realities
on the ground are portraying completely opposite picture as compared to the Indian claims.
If your analysts are of the view that political and military leaderships claim India to be the
flag bearer of regional peace, security and stability. In addition to it, establishment of longstanding
peace at international and regional level is on top of their agenda, they must have come to this conclusion from the analysis. Is the author implying that pakistani analysts are clueless about ground realities. If so there are a certain on this forum which could easily replace these analysts to portray a much different picture from what pakistani analysts have depicted.

Effects of continuous and organized Indian propaganda against Pakistan are quite
visible at global and state levels. So in this background, even some Pakistani influential
personalities do not hesitate to blame that Pakistan Army, ISI and other organizations of
national security are not in favour of regional peace. They blame Pakistan — that it allocates a
large portion of its budget on defence which is ultimately affecting the economic situation of
the country.
I am dumbfounded that a mature author (that writes for IPRI that was founded by Brig Shaukat Qadir) completely unaware of what pakistani army has done to the political process and international image of pakistan. Image of pakistan is the responsibility of the government of pakistan.

Interestingly, most peace activists of India criticize their leadership by saying that
India is currently on the top among the global buyers of weapons and armaments and the
situation would remain the same for many years.
Most peace activists are not aware of dying submarine fleets, vinatage mig 21's/27's and jaguars. Neither are they aware than in last two decades IA has not bought a single peice of cannon for its forces. They might also be unaware that india was an almost bankrupt country two decades ago, hence there has not been any money devoted to research and development of a domestic Weapons industry. Now if the author can add 2+2 he might understand why India needs to import most of its machinery. If you look at the recent history, On one side you have Pakistan which pretty much sold its sovereignty to US in return for state of the art f16's when we were still buying Mig21's of the sixties, on the other side it was the Nuclear power chinese, whose destructive power needs no introduction.

According to details, the Sweden-based South Asian expert Rahul Bedi on March 14 disclosed
that India has become the biggest importer of war weapons and ammunition in the world.
The Research Institute in Sweden, “Stockholm International Peace Research Institute”,
in one of its research reports revealed the sensational information that during 2006-2010, India
was the largest purchaser of weapons which comprises 9 percent of the total purchase of
weapons in the world market. According to the research institute, India will retain the top
position at least for a decade because of its booking order. China is on second number because
it purchases 6 percent of the weapons sold in the global market.
Now in last two decades we finally have some money, so maybe it's time to change the face of the security of the skies which are guarded by record lowest squadran strength of the IAF. Also now maybe its time have a true Blue water navy to secure our trade routes and national interests.this time around hopefully the brilliant minds of the country can be funded to provide the solutions needed for indigenization of the weapons needed to reduce the dependencies on our allies. And finally maybe it's time to ensure that the infantry soldier can rest assured that he will not be outgunned or out ranged when he is willing to lay down his life to protect the tax payers. If assuring the safety of country, leads us to bear the tag of largest importer for another 20 years, we wouldn't mind it.

India is focusing on the purchase of fighter planes and submarines in order to maintain
its hegemony on its adjoining seas and aerial vicinity. It should be remembered that India
purchases 70 percent of its weapons from other countries. Nevertheless, Indian high officials
claim that their priority is to bring down the supremacy of the army, naval and air forces of
China, while currently, Pakistan is not under consideration.
Pakistan with its actions will always be on the radar, i think that is evident to every one

Research professor Simon Benjamin — who also helped in the formation of the above
mentioned research report stamped the fact that India is on the top list of weapon purchasers.
He further elaborated that the main objectives of India are: the attainment of permanent
membership of Security Council and to have a wider political role at global and regional level.
According to the Indian newspapers, ‘Bhaskar’ and ‘Amar Ujala’, March 14, India has
increased its defense budget by upto 17 percent in comparison to the last two years.
it's a shame, the hike is disappointing ,it should have been atleast 30%, with the rest of 13% going towards research and development.

India has become important for Russia, America, Germany, France, Britain and Israel
because they want to sell their weapons to this potential customer. For example, India is
purchasing 57 High Advance Training Jets from Britain, while from the US, it is purchasing C-
17 Transport Aircraft. Similarly, the French President Nicolas Sarkozy on his recent visit to
India signed an agreement of 2.1 billion dollars to endow the Indian fighter jets Miraj 2000
with high technology. Moreover, India is purchasing armaments worth 2.3 billion dollars. It is
believed — that in the next five years, India would be able to spend 80 billion dollars to equip
its army with high-tech weapons.
Makes us wonder why hasn't pakistan become the same to all these countries, as it claims to be the true flag bearer of peace and tranquility, whereas india with it malicious defence budgets and its extremest's is on the good books of every nation.

Currently, India is purchasing 126 fighter planes worth 11 billion dollars. In addition to
it, Delhi is in the final stages to purchase 200 helicopters which will cost it 4 billion dollars.
although the mentioned 126 aircrafts is almost confirmed to be 204 aircrafts, the disappointing part is the we might still be short of additional 100 aircraft's. hope fully LCA mk2 will comethrough. Helicopters will be complimented with larger domestic deal of ALH WSO and LCH.

Experts are of the view that many countries cannot imagine o purchase weapons like
India. It should be remembered that in 1992, India was on the top in world ranking in terms of
purchasing the weapons. But in mid 2000’s, it had bought lesser amount of weapons.
Keeping in mind the facts and figures, it could be sensed that propaganda by the Indian
and the western media against the security organizations of Pakistan is not based on reality. In
fact, the situation is other way round. It is expected that Pakistani intellectuals would acquire
correct information based on ground realities and would play their constructive role to run
down the negative outlook of India towards Pakistan. On the same note, electronic and print
media should take a forefront role to bring forth the facts and figures in order to reveal the real
Indian militaristic intentions.

A nations Military's intentions reflect the aspirations of its political process (or sometimes lack of it). We have been on the right track since 47, It's others who need retrospect

hahaha you kidding me ??? both the examples are of pure business. What it has to do with independence. BTW independence means FREEDOM :D
Let's get agree on that Indian defence manufacturing industries are not that developed. So ??? We have money. They have tech we do it. It's like China going to Brazil to learn the AC operations. Does that make china baby of Brazil ? plus we don't play with the designs of OEM. It doesn't mean we can't COPY PASTE. But we chose to respect the agreement :) reverse engineering is not that difficult at least in India. And turkey upgrade f4 and f16 on its own ??? Really ??? Do you even know how and were the components come from ? Ask your Pak friends.
Software industries : it's a dam business man. China is one of the biggest supplier to USA in a variety of goods. Your reliance on US market is a lot more than Indian. Without US , China's economy would crash and burn instantly :) :) look like you are not aware of US sanctions on India. We didn't crash or burn. Again please educate yourself on the defination of INDEPENDANCE.

India have rejected many Russian equipment on the basis of her need. We buy what we want. We have money. Russia is long tested friend and US is new ally. Still India consider her own interests before US and Russia. Eg in Iran- we couldn't afford to reduce the supply. So we didn't reduce it. That's against US policy. We are in good terms with iserael and US but not against anyone.
I think India will be only country to buy US and Russian goods directly from both countries without help of thirds country

.
while the population starves, infrastructure crumbles, inflation skyrockets, debt and deficits skyrocket......the indian regime is spending everything on importing military equipment.
thats the definition of a fascist military dictatorship.

They continued to do that in 62 and in 65 but lol they came down to become weak

. . .
learn lesson on what?
Why didn't you take all of kashmir?

Its you how always start the war and every time kicked back to your territory ... We are on the same position from 47-48

. .
And even after loss of 4 wars you are not learn the same lesson ???
:thinktank: Bharti, :thinktank: Bharti... delusional Bharti...:thinktank: Stop reading indian defence ministry's written fake articles. or you will be remain deillusional as you are...  Bharat won 4 wars, You really really made me laugh..
Because idiot Nehru called for ceasefire:hitwall:.
Because idoit Nehru, Knows that how much damaged Pakistan army had inflicted to you..
