Super Sukhoi is the upgrades planned on Su-30MKIs.... while exact technical requirements are to be finalised by this year end, one may expect AESA radar, some new weapons, some sort of rcs reduction, improved avionics, even upgrades on existing engines can be done...After upgrades, MKI will be very much in the league of Su-35s.

Well MKIs were to go for MLU anyway...It was wise to upgrade them with latest stuffs. Anyway once upgraded, you'll have 270 'Su-35 comparable' aircrafts.

Should the deal go through it will boost indian MIC. The expreince of designing and build russian 5th gen aircraft will help build you local medium stealth aircraft.

But if an American jet, most likely F16, is going to be built in India then logical progression would see F35 in your Af and navy.

In either case... indian MIC is going to expan massively in coming five years.

PAK-FA should be the priority. I don't know why all successive Indian governments are ambivalent about this PAK-FA project.

Super Sukhoi is more certain then PAK-FA.

Well MKIs production will be finished by 2019(If we don't increase the order anymore) while Super Sukhoi upgrade deal will be signed in 2017.... Logically first few aircrafts will be upgraded in Russia and rest in India. Currently both Mig-29s and Mirage-2000s are being upgraded in India after their initial batched were upgraded in their respective origin countries.

Now it is over 300

When did that happen? afaik only 272 mkis on order in total and 218 of them are in active services by March 2016.

Mostly the latter since MKI production is almost at an end. If MKIs are ordered subsequently, they will be of S-S standard I would assume. Its like F-16 blocks etc.
