Deploy Army in Naxalite areas, demands BJP

Posted: Fri Jul 02 2010, 13:13 hrs
Raipur:

In a major shift in its stand, Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday demanded deployment of Army in the Maoist areas, including in violence prone areas of Chhattisgarh, saying that the party would mount pressure on the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government to take effective steps to contain growing menace of Naxalism.

" BJP central leadership is in favour of deployment of Army in Naxalite areas in order to bring an end to violence and wanton killings", Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Sawaraj told newsmen here on her arrival here to attend the BJP's agitation to protest against rise in prices of petroleum products.

" UPA government is confused over the steps to be taken against Naxalites. We will raise this issue during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament", she said adding that " If deployment of Army can check killings of security personnel and innocent civilians by the Naxalites, we have to opt for that solution".

This is a good sign. We will try to avoid war as much as possible, but we will also be prepared for it.

It's terrible to see Pakistani people intervening in Kashmir's issue.

Yes definitely its terrible for you

Remember one thing, Kashmir has got nothing to do with you.
It is India's and will remain an Indian state.

Thats the problem, Its the will of people where they feel like to go. Its not India's and will get right of self determination.

*Kashmiri people, themselves do not want to join Pakistan.*

Then why India opposes plebiscite which she has committed on world forums

Apart from raising offensive divisions and Light howitzers, India should also have a heavy assembly of SAMs on the eastern border to deter Chinese fighters from crossing over. IAF had already bought 1000 Akash SAM missiles, and IA just recently bought another thousand missiles. We are investing heavily to prevent any misadventure on the eastern front by China, while we pound the western front, in case a two pronged attack happens.

From the article, this statement should be highlighted.

Ultimately, the U.S. is the only country with the power and resources to reassure its allies they need not engage in costly arms races with China.

The problem is that India do not seek to be an allie with the US. As a result, it needs to spend all these money in defence that otherwise could go into education and help the poor. So the initial diplomatic stance is mistaken.

If kashmir is india's and if the kashmiri's want to be a part of india then why do you keep 0.7million army troops there. thats half of your total army. why not give the kashmiri's the right of self-determination. surely by your judgement, they'd choose india; why fear then ???

Because of these type of people that came from Pakistan

... as far as the so-called two-front strategy is concerned, i must say the indians are the worst planners, visionaries or foreseers. any country (specially one in our kinda neighbourhood) would prepare for the worst-case-scenario i.e., an attack from more than one front and possibly even from all sides. but if this comes to india after over 60 years of independence, then they're certainly not normal (and that is to put it politely):rofl::rofl:
