Can India-Pakistan tensions escalate into full-scale war?
Can Pakistan fight and win a conventional war against India?

What comes after the end of Tahir-ul-Qadri's Dharna? Will PTI and Imran Khan lead or follow TUQ? How will it impact Pakistan?

Why is the West heaping awards and honors on Malala Yousufzai? Will it help or hurt the cause of female education?

Does Ebola pose a threat to South Asia?

ViewPoint from Overseas host Faraz Darvesh discusses these questions with panelists Ali Hasan Ali H Cemendtaur, Sabahat Ashraf (iFaqir) and Riaz Haq(www.riazhaq.com)

The probability of India prevailing over Pakistan in a conventional war now are very remote at best. Any advantage that India seeks over Pakistan would require it to pay a very heavy price in terms of massive destruction of India's industry, economy and infrastructure that would set India back many decades.

hazara killings doesn't seem to be important news, i guess.

This video was recorded yesterday before the news of the tragic Hazara killings and suicide attack on Maulana Fazl ur Rehman.

Why dont you guys realise that you already at war ?

A war that is neither conventional nor symmetric. A war where the weapons the nation ate grass for are of no use . Things shall only get worse not because India or any other nation wants it but because Pak as a nation is doing nothing to correct it.

Everything that was dear to the Pak nation has been torn apart - society, religion, industry. army ( post abbotabad). Look what Jinnah wanted & compare it with where the nation has reached .

Lastly, stop blaming others for your own ( created) problems. One panelist ( I think it was you) said that the Tailban was a creation of BB. So what ? If she created it and those who followed felt it was wrong or did not suit the nation at a later date - the leaders who followed should have stepped in.

Laying the blame on BB is no answer because those who did not stop it later are equally culpable.

On the contrary, if the war were to remain conventional, probability of India prevailing over Pakistan are exponential at the least.

Pakistan's problems is, that it is outmatched not only in resources(both quantity and quality) but also strategic depth.
Many of It's tier one cities lie a stone throw from Indian borders.

You simply can not spar with an economy which is 9 times bigger, a defence budget which is 6 times larger and armed forces which is more than three times (including both active and reserve personnel) your size and hope to come out on top.

The war will be fought on Indian territory after Pakistan's two strike corps penetrate deep into India.

The war will be fought in the conference rooms, filled with foreign diplomats, once Pakistan figures out it bite off more than it chewed.

full scale war = nuclear war = extinction on mankid

wat people don't realise is nuclear missles arent build to fight but to stop from there ever being a fight

Gazwa-e-Hind will be carried out by our Bengali brethren, who are planning to annex India by 2020. We're just here to cripple the Indians.

How are they going to annex it? You yourself is crippled. First deal with Good-Bad Taliban, once you are done with it - Help your Bengali Brothers whom you killed in Plenty in East Pakistan to annex India.

India is far more divided than Pakistan with its caste, religion, region, language fault lines running far deeper.

Given the many ethnic, regional, religious and caste fault lines running through the length and breadth of India, there have long been questions raised about India's identity as a nation. Speaking about it last April, the US South Asia expert Stephen Cohen of Brookings Institution said, " But there is no all-Indian Hindu identity—India is riven by caste and linguistic differences, and Aishwarya Rai and Sachin Tendulkar are more relevant rallying points for more Indians than any Hindu caste or sect, let alone the Sanskritized Hindi that is officially promulgated".

Ignoring the obvious nationalistic rant. Conventional wisdom tell us a smaller force can not attack an enemy force three times larger and survive...It's best hope to survival is to fight from a well dug in position, which by default is home ground.

If Pakistan has two strike corps, then India has ten Pivot Corps, whose primary objective is to blunt enemy offense, swing around and take the war into enemy territory.

If Pakistan has 7 holding corps, then India has 7 Integrated battle groups, that are built to fight the war in enemy territory.

So yes any future war will be predominantly fought in Pakistani territory.

Keep that little one in your pants Gupta
By the way what are you doing here ? Should not you be at the call center ?

Even though war is bad but sometime it is necessary.
