For an instance if we unite under the banner of United states of South Asia then it may look massive but with hindu nationalist in power the thing would get even worse. This region is full of corruption, poverty and injustice yet we still think of union although thinking of unity is not bad but this region is too populated for that, and on realistic terms it will further split in future or have the potential to be further partitioned. Only then EU kind of solution may work for this region.

Muslims had to pay Zakat tax which the Non Muslims did not, and when the Muslim rulers went to war it was obligatory on every Muslims to go as well non Muslims were not, any Non Muslim who agreed to pay jizya came under the protection of the Muslim rulers with their lively, right to worship and property protected.
