Source about us owing oil money to Iran that's bought before sanctions? AFAIK we owe Iran oil money for what we have bought in the period of sanctions. That's because monetary transactions are banned as well.

India-Iran relations span beyond oil. We have converging interests in regard to energy diversification, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Pakistanis made Iran a natural enemy with their policies towards Iran, post shah era.

I am sorry to say that you are counting too much on this type of economic deal. NS of Pakistan today is a smart leader. He will not pursue the same policy like other leaders of Pakistan. India is not politically strong enough to take up India Iran relation beyond economics and so do Iran is not too much intrested enough to make a side in India Pakistan issue.


So in a nutshell, world has moved on and they stopped seeing everything in a binary mode. Iran will always be inclined towards Pakistan at a political and people to people level. India will have a good relation with Iran on a Gov to Gov level or business level.

I am a great fan of Iran, its culture civilization and its people.But i feel really upset when i go to their media outlets and read the public comments. You will be surprised with the amount of hatred that is displayed for Indian people...

Indian government has paid all of its debt only some indian companies still owe money and India making payment every months . the debt is now is about 3 billion .india is one first countries which tried it best to pay it debt and it still making payment

but guess what Chinese government doest want to pay it debt and they owe much much more then every body else . which soon will be dealt with in other ways.

He just want to rant about India and gain sympathy from Iranian members by showing the Muslim country card.

If he is really concerned about Iran, he should have asked his government to import oil and pay double the price of a barrel to show some love unlike India which has exploited Iran through sanctions.

Iran is a great opportunity for India in the region. But India needs to take serious advantage...

I am not sure how much politically Indian Gov will take advantage, but one thing for sure, among all the Muslim nations, Iran commands huge respect in India...Even among Hindu people, most of us like Iran for its moderate culture and somehow, they present very soothing impression toward India. But the issue is that, we never invested in people to people contact with Iran in a big way...And as long as culturally and people to people level, we do not admire or respect each other, every relationship will be more or less economical only..

Rupee to a US dollar was under 55 in February 2013 when the 45:55 payment system became operational. Rupee to a US dollar is at 67 now.

Ideally, if refiners had kept dollar equivalent to their purchase in separate account over the years they could have readily paid Iran now. But for a barrel of oil they bought in February 2013 at say $80, they would now have to pay Rs 5,360 instead of Rs 4,400 then, added the Business Standard. "

Read the first paragraph. 45% was paid. and the rest is to be paid when JCPOA is ended. And also the last paragraph indicates the hike in price due to the difference in exchange. That's the increase for the pending 55% of the due. India is paying the dues through Turkey bank.

Just wait for a moment when some one will come back to say, you are not Iranian, rather Indian is disguise as Irannian.
To be honest, we also do not expect, to be our friend, Iran should be someone's enemey. Why can not China, India and US whoever is interested to do business in Iran can do it? Why does Pakistan has to object if Iran has to have a trade relation with Iran or not. No one in India is discouraging Pakistan to improve trade relation with Iran.

Agreed. Economic, defence partnerships make countries to come closer but unless cultural exchange happens that closure is not completed.
