Well JFT has a small Russian engine to power it. While Tejas has a huge Tata mutli wheel trailer to power it. Tejas is the clear winner.

It may be one day. Right now, JF-17 is operational every day for Pakistan.
That alone makes it top choice. A bird in hand is worth more than 2 dreams ...

However, lack of composites to reduce cost disadvantages the Thunder.
A digital FBW is also notably absent and the radar is better on the LCA.

Weapons are of similar worth overall.

If/when the Tejas gets inducted in numbers, one will want to follow its progress
through Mk1-A ,1b ... 1y, 1z ...possibly Mk2.

And next standards of the F-17 are coming soon enough, also to be evaluated.

Most importantly, both AFs structures differ so that in the end, the absence of
a middle tier will be more important to PAF than respective qualities of F-17 & LCA.

And since development choices also differed between the two, it is in the next
step of PAC's growth that we'll know how profitable the Thunder program was.
