Tejas does have better specs then JF-17, and since many of its critical components come with some of the best international defense firms, they have to be really good. All that remains to be seen is how well all the equipment gels together to form 1 platform.

However, I think that the weapons on JF-17 (more the the American ones) are way better then their Russian counterparts.

As of now JF 17 is the winner. Tejas is still has lot of problems. But India is more ambitious and is pouring more money into Tejas and have plans for AMCA. Given the money that goes into Tejas and AMCA programs, India's industrial capability, and willingness of major world defense companies to share their technology with India, in future Tejas will be a superior plane to JF17

Well JFT has served the purpose for us beyond expectations and still continue so was, is and will be feasible for us alone. Tejas is for India and they are working hard to induct the platform though Pakistan is already operating JFT and successfully using in WOT so JFT is indeed an achievement for us and will remain as a mainstay of PAF. Pakistan will not compare JFT with any aircraft even the competitor is not operational in squadrons but the success of JFT in its class is an admiration for us.

The block buster, Jurassic Park had the title, 60 Million years in making....with Tejas 20+ years in making, i wouldn't regard it as extinct, however after 2 decades, most aircraft would be nearing their first life cycle but who knows in a decade or so, the Tejas may as well become another addition to the IAF or as an author terms the IAF collection as ''like a zoo with a few animals of each type for onlookers to look at and admire!
