BMDs are such unproven tech and missiles are designed to evade them. The success rate will probably be around under 50%. It's a good way to burn your money and give the nation a false sense of security. Even if 5 nukes hit their target that can cripple a nation as big as India.

Its only burning money if a country cannot afford it, and India can afford it being one of the fastest growing trillion dollar economy.
Regardless of the BMD's success rate(which is increasing every year as BMD tech evolves) if the opponent country has no BMD that means when India retaliates the aggressor country is going down completely.

Also since the article came out in 2016 there have been numerous successful tests of ABM in India all showing incremental capabilities.

ISLAMABAD: India may not be able to fully defend itself from a possible Pakistani nuclear strike in a conflict despite the country's heavy investments in developing anti-ballistic missile systems, a Russian nuclear expert has cautioned.


Petr Topychkanov, a senior researcher at the Carnegie Moscow Centre's Non-Proliferation Programme, said that despite large scale cooperation between India and Israel for the development of a ballistic missile defence system and India's efforts for acquiring S-400 defence systems from Russia, it is "very far" from defending itself from a Pakistani missile attack.

"Even in 10 years and with the huge budgets that India plans to spend on the development of nuclear weapons and capabilities, it is difficult to imagine it will be able to defend its territory from possible strikes from Pakistan in case of conflict," Topychkanov was quoted as saying by the Dawn.

Talking about India's candidature for the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), Topychkanov said the world will be cautious about India.

"The nuclear waiver given to Indian became a very important part of the lesson for the international community because Delhi did not give a lot in exchange, it didn't change policies and approaches," he said.

About Russia's policy for strategic stability in South Asia, Topychkanov said Moscow is interested in regional strategic stability and is working on avoiding crisis in the area.

He said despite longstanding strategic partnership with India, Russia was developing relations with both Islamabad and New Delhi.

India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed supersonic interceptor missile from a test range off Odisha coast on Sunday which is capable of destroying any incoming ballistic missile, prompting Pakistan to say that it would disturb the balance of power in the region and it plans to raise the issue at the international level.

No we can't, but as other members have also said in this thread for which you have no response to other than the usual list of pakistani ad hominems, we can still block a majority of your nukes as we have ABMs while you can't block any that we launch since you have no ABMs.

As for better missile defense system, that can only be quantified after ours becomes operational.
Also, check the success rate of our ABMs maybe that will bring you back to reality.

Currently we have no ABM CAPABILITIES BUT there are the rumors that we are in the negotiations with China to buy advance version of HQ-9 aka HQ-26 ( Chinese THAAD)we are moving step by step toward long range ABM CAPABILITIES first we have medium range SAM (SPADA-2000, HQ-16 AND HQ-16B FOR NAVY) and USA and western countries arming you to their latest weapons( technologies) against China you're the puppet of western countries against China

Simple... We have satellites up there watching every Pakistani bases with accuracy of 3 square meter..... any movement there would be a trigger for us to anticipate Pakistani nuclear attack... and do a preemptive strike....
