India/Islam: Muslims lag behind then other minorities in India

Reservation is not helping anyone - We need to get rid of it - Maybe have reservation based upon economic situation. Who gets benefitted by today's reservation? the cream of the various categories - A son of a Scheduled caste doctor or an IAS officer will have better education than a SC labor's son and guess who gets to use the SC reservation? the doctor's son rather than the labor's son who gets left out because he is in the lower rung of the ranking within SC students. Also imagine a poor Brahmin priest's son who can't afford proper education as his father relies on the rupee which falls in his Puja ki Thali? He is treated as the Forward caste and gets left out in the scheme of things while the SC doctor's son uses the reservation.

1. Considering the sheer no of people having BPL card, it would be bigger mess to make reservation on financial grounds.

2. Reservation is needed since the discrimination is social in nature. Unless the concept of caste is completely removed from the minds of people, prejudices at some levels will always be there.

You have pulled out a percentage of these people from the poverty. And in the next couple of generations, you have reduced the poverty levels. Easier said than done. Personally I havent seen a single deserving person with a BPL card. Most of card holders are the ones who are working in the unorganized sector. They don't even pay their taxes to start with.

Define deserving - Also why do they need to pay their taxes - they can't even support themselves properly.

Deserving people like the housemaids in my home. They dont have BPL cards.

Muslims are in large number in UP, MP, Bihar etc. All these states are poor, that explains why they are poorer as compared to other minority.

Ok, heard that Muslims lag other minorities in India. Now what probably could be the reason. Few I can think of.

1. High birth rate and big unmanageable families.
2. Low literacy rate.

Unless, these are dealt with properly no matter how high the reservation will not help them. Btw, there is reservations for economic backward Muslims in India. Point is, unless they think about making less babies and probably get their kids educated, this reservation thing is not going to help.

Other minorities like Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists do not have or ask for reservation but still they are way way ahead of Muslims and the reason is their progressive thinking and hard work. I also believe reservation should be taken away from Hindus/OBC etc. Reservation only make people lazy and the regressive people fight to get it as they do not want to put in an extra bit of effort to get what they want or to change themselves to take care of the root cause of their problem i.e. birth control and education.

Why isnt she carrying a BPL card? These are few of the benefits provided by the govt and if they dont avail of it, it is their fault unless they are denied one.

As for the people in the organized sectors, there should be some mechanism to make these people pay or prevent them from making use of the BPL cards - I do not know how - it is for the govt to plug in these loopholes.

But atleast in economy based reservation system, it provides the oppurtunity for people to move from one category to another - below BPL to above thereby the BPL percentage going down over a period of time - whereas in today's system, someone born as SC will always remain as SC even if he had made the full use of the reservation and have moved up the food chain -his son will use the same reservation system.

The Muslim person who is talented, diligent, hardworker is doing good whether he is in India or Pakistan.
The Muslim person who is poor is doing badly (corruption, social) whether its India or Pakistan.


More no of muslims are killed due to bullets and bombs in Pakistan, More no of muslims were killed due to shortage of food and help during floods and earthquake in Pakistan.

In last few years very few muslims have died in riots or anything in India.

I would like to add three more points to what you have stated

3.Reservation on financial grounds would lead to massive tax evasion as everyone barring governmental officials would submit face income certificate.People who do not mind paying a share of their income in tax would also shoe repressed income for sake of future of their children.

4.It would be an incentive for poverty as non-poors would be penalised.(related to point 3)

5.Identity based reservation have one big advantage.They are lapseable.If one does not believe in tenants of racism then every community would have some bright and moronic people with majority being average as per bell's curve.Now as a particular group will prosper under reservation system,the biologically capable of its member would achieve their potential bringing that community in consonace with bell curve and making reservation redundant.Real life parlance of narrowing of cut-off difference.

India is a country where govt does nothing. You have to do everything by yourself. You are responsible if your son is not successful.

@reservation: Govt has already cut many job, There are very few govt job left. Reservation in govt job is nothing compare to private sector job (In terms of quality and quantity). Poor Muslims, they are still fighting for reservation, where hindus don't need reservation.

Many of us (educated) ppl don't give **** to govt job (Unless it is high rank job). I left govt job and enjoying private sector job.

Muslims are second class citizen in India coz they choose to be. They want to be second class citizen and enjoy the tags like "Vote Bank". There are few Muslim friend of mine whose parent chose to come out of this mentality and his son is working in IBM USA.

There is a lady (a Muslim BJP woman leader) in Muzzaffarpur who went to surgery after 2 daughters, Her elder daughter is studying MD (Masters degree of medicine, after MBBS) and younger is doing BDS (Bachelor in dental surgery).
