What about pre 1947 Pakistan? Even then the region which is present day Pakistan was mostly different from the rest of the indian subcontinent!
No the religion was not different. Through out India there were places with both Hindu and Muslim majorities.

We look different physically

Strange!!! From which state you belongs to?

and our culture might have some similarities but mostly is different!

There was not a single dissimilarities in terms of culture. Even the official language of Pakistan born in India.

and BTW, Punjabis only make up 30-40% of Pakistan's population, and this the common misconception that indians have about Pakistan, they think Pakistan only consists of Punjabis but leave out the Pashtuns (Ethnic Afghans that make up 30-35% of Pakistan's population), and Balochis (Both of which are Persian races)!

Punjabis and Sindhis compromise ~75% of Pakistan's population. Pashtuns are less than 20%.

Pakistan's population (appr)

Punjabi 76 million
Sindhi 36 million
Pashtun 28 million
Baloch 6 million

I'm a Pashtun and i have nothing in common with an indian! :pakistan:

Than I am a Kashmiri pandit. I am also very different from most of the Pakistanis.

Whatever Pakistan's image be in the world, i would still prefer to be a Pakistani rather eat mud like children do in india, and it looks like your so called "image" hasn't been much of a help when your cities are full of Slums!

Keep wet dreaming about becoming a superpower.

But my friend some of your countrymen in the US are calling themselves Indians.

.
Indian people are no sense of pride. they are desperate for a comparison with Pakistan. it's like an achievement for indians.

no one here think about comparison with pakistan,we have a lot to achieve.you ppl start to bring poverty and then we say just look at your self.

Guys calm down on derailing this thread into a slanging match, and one bordering on looks, slums and what not.

The basic premise (and what I think this person was trying to articulate), is that in a large metropolis like Mumbai, someone from Karachi can find distinct similarities. Is the language (hindi) different? No. Is the food hugely different? No. Are the roads, buildings, bazaars, traffic, noises, smells all different? No.

Do the people look different, do they dress massively different? Again, no. We're not comparing Shanghai to Karachi, we're comparing Mumbai to Karachi from that indivduals perspective and there are similarities. Why is this so hard to accept for some?

It's just hatred and nothing else that leads to the flame wars, pointless arguing and cheapshots that we see 7 pages into the discussion.

Of course in a country as diverse as India, there are people within it that are different to one another. So I and everyone else knows that someone in Chennai will have little in common with someone from the town of Nowshera in the province of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. But this article is focused on someone from Karachi, visiting Mumbai, and sharing their experiences.

It's not that difficult to grasp.

Read a document some few years back which said
Actually Pakistan and India were same before independence... Both struggled and shed their blood for existence.. What happened after independence is the change..
While Government of India and Pakistan were struggling to develop there economy post independence... Pakistan was trying to project to the world that how different they are by comparing with India fearing that people might question if everything was same why was the partition really done.. while India was focusing on secularism defeating Pakistan's ideology...

I have seen many people praising themselves but you are one of your kind!!!!! In what way it is 'an achievent' for an Indian to be like a Pakistani?

I see the situation is opposite...

Story proven to be false.

OTOH, Indians try hard to pretend and show that Pakistanis and Indians are the same genetically and culturally

what makes yo think that ?? you coudnt comprehend the meaning of my post.

I think of you as an Indian, but your post makes me think that you are comparing between an Indian and a Sikh.Only you can clarify...

And i would not be on defensive even if everyone calls me a racist it here. WE ARE NOT SAME Period

Last time I heard, every one from South Asia is being clubbed as South Asians Abroad, I mean abroad - which means whole world outside South Asia.

Too bad, few Pakistanis here seems to dislike this.

Why don't all of you write a open petition to the people of the world outside South Asia to call Pakistanis as [I don't know what you want to be called as, may be Arabs, may be Persians, whatever you like].

Too bad, too bad, people outside South Asia have some problem in their eyes and minds...

We are from Arabs, or persians or Turk or even from Mars but we aren't the same with Bharatis and we don't want to be same. Got it. So please spare us.

Areesh

Well it was just one incident that Pakistanis pose as Bharatis. In trouble times one can even make a donkey his father, what's wrong if they posed as Bharatis for sometime.

How can you pose a Bharati when you are a Pakistani? Making donkey a father? Have you ever did that?

Anyways I don't why Bharatis have pain in their as* when we say we aren't common with you and are different from you. Any reason?
I know you shout that 'we are different and different' etc but no one is claiming as Indians and Pakistanis are same. Read the posts.

pain in their as*
Its like some one is really getting hurt from the news from new york. lol

Story is true, friend.

When we say we are Indians anywhere in the world we get respected by DEFAULT... We do not have any necessity to pose as or compare with anyone else other than an another Indian.

The name India and Indian brings respect in any part of the world, that's the reason our neighbors pose themselves as Indians abroad.
