On a more serious note .... to become a successful Political leader you need to have extremely good EQ. It literally has to be off the charts. Especially in a democracy.

That has to be combined with a very good IQ, only then do you survive and succeed in this field.

Almost all political leaders without exceptions have good EQ and Emotional stability is a prerequisite for that.

Sure you can. But the average chinese is FAR more callous than the average Indian, pakistani, European or American. This is just my observation from a neutral perspective.

In a democracy, politics is also a popularity contest. You have to understand the popular sentiment.

That particular minister you quote might not be ne expert in science, but he was an distinguished IPS police officer and now a elected Minister in the Rajasthan state. AN impressive resume by any standard.

You think that is possible if he was not smart enough to get there on his own merit ?

Politics in the US works differently than politics in India and I am sure politics in china has its own challenges. But fundamentally all politicians have some common traits, and one of them is a good EQ.

That is inevitable. If you are unable to see it, its because of your own bias, not because they do not have it.

However to move a Nation forward beyond its inertial, it takes an exceptional leader. India had Nehru in its initial years. (High EQ, not so great IQ) , Narasimha Rao (Fantastic IQ, great EQ) and now Modi (Great IQ, Fantastic EQ).
