What's new

India is doing what China did 30 years ago ?

Lol just because I said something good about the British Empire you are now triggered? Your country would not exist without the British ... Indians always complain about the "atrocities" of the "evil" British Empire even though they provided India with the a huge jumpstart after independence. I'm sure if the British Empire continued ruling, India would be in a significantly better shape than it is today ... perhaps not a Hong Kong but definitely much better than whatever is current day India.
May be so. But it is not British empire today. Perhaps China could ask British to come and rule there given you are so enamoured by their competence. At least world would still feel safe with their rule in China than those commies.

This is exactly why India has not and will not ever succeed under the current form of government
Strong conjectures coming from a nobody on the internet.

Perhaps. But it looks like the Communists did a pretty good job in China though ... one glimpse of their cities is all it takes to recognize the progress. Really hard to argue with the Chinese development under the Communist regime. On the contrary, maybe if China had democracy like India or Brazil, it would look much different than today (by which I mean much poorer and worse off). For very large countries like China and India and even Brazil I really think heavily centralized rule is the way to go.

.
Just because India and Brazil are failures does not mean democracy is a failure. Look at the United States, Western Europe, South Korea, Japan, or Taiwan. Democracy does work ... just not in all climates.

It is always the problem to elect the best qualified person for the job (thinking the Orange) , especially in a divicified society where votes coming in "BANK".

Well the US economy was doing very well under him until the corona hit ... I'm not a big fan of his but you gotta admit the US economy was doing pretty well.

due to unsustainable tax breaks and stock buybacks with skyrocketing economic inequality. the core working generation of the US right now and the 2nd largest after boomers - millenials - were hit by an economic crisis right as they entered the workforce and never recovered. now they're hit with yet another economic crisis.

this is not a healthy economy.

Indians internalized the 19th century imperial British racial hierarchy, particularly elites. The elites view Indians apart from themselves, and believe they need to "justify" to the west why India deserves to develop or even deserves to exist. They spend so much time and energy justifying themselves to foreigners for aid, arms deals, etc. Just look at all the ink spilled for India's UNSC bid and NSG bid. And for what? A pat on the back from US/UK that India is A-OK?

Indians meanwhile have nothing but contempt for other Asians. Another relic of 19th century British imperialism.

Meanwhile Chinese government do not believe in justifying themselves. They just do it.
About racial hierarchy, I partly agree and that is not taken from the British. Social caste hierarchy always existed in ancient India. And it had done enormous damage to this country. After Independence, when we tried to make up for our past mistakes we created another monster in the name of reservation. Meritocracy lost its importance and medicore, below mediocore men and women have taken up positions they were never suited for. So yes, we have created a new class, not necessarily 'racially superior' who like to imitate the British.

About, UNSC & NSG, if it is not so important then why the Chinese repeatedly try to block India's entry into these groups? Foreign aid to India is getting smaller and smaller in size over the last 30 years. The Chinese have at one point of time just absorbed the Soviet military technology. So when You did the same, I dont see any wrong in arms deal we are making with others.

Progress by overriding liberties, freedom and expression is not something we strive for. World is trying to negate such demonic governance. I actually think it is important for democracies to decentralize and let the local communities work with both freedom and finance. Things will change dramatically if it did so with much less fissures in the society.

What you see in China is a facade for no one knows what and how the actual populace are thinking given everything is censored coming from that land. For one that country severely lacks the morals though. Copying, stealing, cheating, espionage, hacking all are typically associated with that country now a days. Only CCP bots think every thing is hunky dory in that country.

about UNSC/NSG: because it's costless to China. China just says no and it's done. Meanwhile India has to spend resources applying and calling in favors and giving concessions to others.

about Indian hierarchy: I never interact with Indians in India. But NRIs definitely have this mentality. You know it, and I know it. They even have this mentality towards Indians in India. I don't really mind it, because it's not my place to manage their thoughts. But it is corrosive for India, as they place the opinion of outsiders above the needs of Indians.

Sure but honestly if I had to live in India or China I would choose the latter in a heart beat. I'll just equip myself with a good VPN and I'm set. Ask most people in the world and they'll say the exact same thing.

I take it as you are a Congress support, unfortuately, you are in minority. That's the democratic framework that you are up against.
I do not support any particular political party. Just a neutral obsever.

You have never lived in India to make an objective judgment. So only one you are fooling with this nonsense is yourself.

Perhaps,

The issue is now not just the boundary dispute but "survival".
The Survival in a highly technology dominated world.

Either you choose and develop your own or, get bullied. Its Economy.. Economy all the way.

is it a deliberate "act" by India to cut off substantial ties with China and ACCEPT the SHORT TERM LOSS to GAIN a LONG TERM ADVANTAGE of SELF RELIANCE ?

@Joe Shearer

Yes it is. Hit the nail on the head.

Running to Russia for fake deal of Su 30 and Mig 29 supply.
Asking Russians to expedite supply of S 400 on urgent basis.
Asking Israel for Land version of Barak 8 missiles.

All indicate a move to self-reliance.

All India has to do is to assembly some of it at home and use a long used mantra "Indi Genius".:haha:

Self Reliance achieved.

Costless or not, China's repeated blocking does prove the fact a permanent seat in UNSC does mean something to a country.

I don't base my understanding about a country studying a small group of people. If I had to form my idea of how the Chinese are just relying on the Chinese I have been in contact with, my judgement would be partially correct and partially wrong. You are a country of 1.5 billion people with diversified culture. India is even more diversified. So its entirely upto to you, how you choose to see us.

.
I guarantee you most people in the world would prefer living in China over living in India.
Of course they do because of difference in living standards just as many would choose to live in US than China. So as you proclaimed something for us, let me also assure you if both India and China had same economic profile, only you would choose China, rest will choose India. Unfortunately we couldn't be cruel to our people for want of shiny roads and buildings. It is unfortunate that people like you (even though I am pretty sure you are Chinese) fall for such vain display.
