However, despite being a secular country; Indian society has a very large section of population which is vehemently Hindu and Hinduvta based.

Nations are secular. People are not. We are politically,constitutionally secular, but culturally Dharmic.

That is true all over the world and India is no exception.

As for people being vehemently Hindu - 81% if Hindu by faith. So what else do you expect ?

Even the Congress party has pro Hindu leaning. Can we forget that in the sectarian riots following the assassination of Indra Gandhi more than 10,000 Sikhs were killed in Delhi? Most of all is the repression of Kashmiri Muslims for the last 64 years!

And what about the Sikh killings ? It was a political party that targeted sikhs and not Hindus who targeted Sikhs. Do you know that BJP and RSS were the ones who were protecting Sikhs in Delhi while Congress was killing them ?

India has successfully exploited the fact that India is home to as many Muslims as Pakistan and only second to Indonesia in the world Muslim population. .

India, Pakistan looking at more land customs stations to deepen trade

India and Pakistan on Saturday said that the two countries are exploring the possibilities of opening more land routes to enhance economic ties.

In a joint statement issued today, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and his Pakistan counterpart Makhdoom Mohammad Amin Fahim said that discussions are likely to “continue at the official level for possibilities of opening more land customs stations between both countries”.

“This would enhance greater economic engagement between business communities of both sides and deepen bilateral cooperation for mutual prosperity of their people.”

Fahim is on a three-day visit to India, his second in the last seven months.

This was the third bilateral meeting between the commerce ministers of India and Pakistan within less than seven months.

The two sides agreed to work further for encouraging greater trade through the newly inaugurated Integrated Check Post (ICP).

“It was agreed upon that Pakistan will take necessary steps to remove extant restrictions on items permitted to be imported through the land route,” the statement said.

The commerce secretaries of the two nations would meet in Islamabad in May to discuss further on deepening economic engagements. “The ministers expressed their joint wish that business visa regime needs to be liberalised at the earliest,” the statement said.
