What's new

India has, without question, made the largest tech breakthrough of any nation in living memory

The merchant only needs a phone? A mobile phone that they can easily hack. There is no way India will allow that kind of power in the hands of a single person. India must create a device that they can monitor, just like the current credit card system.

Mobile doesn't mean smart. Which means it's no different than a pots phone. With smart phone, it's 17% in 2015. Even assuming 50% increase, it's still not 300 million.

As to 270 million new bank accounts, did you forget you are a nation of 1.3 billion, not 280 million.

Yes, but nobody called building roads the "largest tech breakthrough in living memory."

Who doesn't have a phone, but knows how to use this system. Also China has this, it's been hailed as the next worst human rights abuse. So prepare for that.

When you said start over, I took it as you need to enter all new information again. Otherwise the merchant can have a broken machine. That too takes time.

Why can't I compare, because you have more KM? They reach everyone. That is the milestone, also Tokyo has 1Gb connectivity, but only Tokyo. Canada tried it, only 250 Mb, failed and now it doesn't exist anymore.

The average speed in India and China is also abysmal. Too many people for 100 million to make a dent.

The problem is never no fiber, it's always, cost.

As to the 1500, no, but only because most 1500 countries are in civil war or some sort of war. Though that's not really an endorsement, China has 8000, but most high speed rail. Still a stupidly low per capita, only able to do it with 1.4 billion people.

I'm referring to how wide spread it is. I have VoLTE, but I also have my own pbx server at home. Honestly I'm not too familiar with Chinese telecom market.

It's not a difficult technology, just hard to update everything. The benefit is there, but not enough, still cool to me though.

Again, you have 1.3 billion people. That's not a huge penetration.

Don't hold your breath, China just got 100% electricity coverage, I want to say 1-2 years ago and that last bit cost 300+ million to reach just 34,000 people. Every home is a stretch. It'll be another decade before India is even somewhat close to that. If not more.

Also what you described is what every nation does, just not with fingerprints. It's a card. Or more specifically a number.

"As to 270 million new bank accounts, did you forget you are a nation of 1.3 billion, not 280 million."
Sorry for butting in , just want to make a little correction, 270 NEW ACCOUNTS ON TOP OF EXSISTING ACCOUNTS.These 270 million are citizens who were never part of the banking system (directly). So the overall number of citizens with acess to banking system will be slightly higher than your quoted number of 280 million.

.
So what exactly is this "largest tech breakthrough of any nation in living memory"? I read the whole article but failed to figure out.

. .
Indian PM has no far sight or discernible mind.
For 3 years ago he rubbished the same Adhaar card.
And now suddenly the Adhaar card is the golden goose of Modi out of nowhere?

What could be more than this. On the same Adhaar card, he castigated the then PM by saying he lacked the vision:

Let us roll the Modi Tweet:

Why do Indians want this gimmick PM?
Oh I forgot, only 1/3rd Indians voted for him.

.
Cannot blame you for not figuring it out.

It must be something so special that "no one noticed", as per the author of this article, not even by usually highly sensational Indian media, not to mention any international media with any degree of dignity. The whole world is totally blind to this "the largest tech breakthrough of any nation in living memory".

If you have figured it out, would you share with the rest of us?

.
Indian smartphone consumption is growing by 70%/year , with Jio and vodaphones unlimited 4gb internet packs more people are integrating into the internet by waves, its estimated literally 300 million more people are going to get access to the internet within 2018. also creating 1.5 million jobs in 2017.India is going through a big tech boom.

The mobile doesn't hold any data. It's like a EDC machine.

It's the backbone network that does all the work. Hacking the mobile won't do anything.

The govt says the security on this network is better than all existing networks everywhere, this includes Visa/Mastercard, Netbanking etc.

Mobile doesn't mean smart. Which means it's no different than a pots phone. With smart phone, it's 17% in 2015. Even assuming 50% increase, it's still not 300 million.

The backbone network makes the mobile smart.

Here's an example:

As to 270 million new bank accounts, did you forget you are a nation of 1.3 billion, not 280 million.

You need banks for households. If the father has a bank account, it's more than enough. Why will the wife and minor children need one? They are not yet financially empowered.

http://www.livemint.com/Specials/vV...households-are-covered-by-a-bank-account.html
99% Indian households are covered by a bank account

Now, even our citizens who are below the poverty line have access to a bank account.

Yes, but nobody called building roads the "largest tech breakthrough in living memory."

It was so in the UK and US. The Aadhaar uses existing technologies to create an end to end backbone network. It doesn't exist anywhere else in the world.

Who doesn't have a phone, but knows how to use this system. Also China has this, it's been hailed as the next worst human rights abuse. So prepare for that.

Our most uneducated people are now using this system already.

When you said start over, I took it as you need to enter all new information again. Otherwise the merchant can have a broken machine. That too takes time.

There is redundancy everywhere. Even merchants carry two or three EDC machines from different banks.

Why can't I compare, because you have more KM? They reach everyone. That is the milestone, also Tokyo has 1Gb connectivity, but only Tokyo. Canada tried it, only 250 Mb, failed and now it doesn't exist anymore.

Most 1Gbps networks are still only present in cities. Our network has already reached towns. I posted a link earlier, 900 cities and towns will be part of this network.

This is from June 2015.

Reliance Jio had already laid 250,000km of fibre-optic network till June

Their objective was to cross 300,000Km by the middle of last year. So they are much higher now. Their objective is to release it in 50 to 100 cities during launch.

Even with VoLTE, they launched their network all over India at once, all 1 million cells. They didn't launch in just a few cells as it is normally done.

As for a single city network, we already have a few.
This one's in Mumbai.

This one was recently launched in Hyderabad.

We are building the kind of infrastructure China got only after it got a lot more richer. China is a $11T economy and 45% of the currency transactions are cash, we may do this by the time we are $4T.

Anyway, it's not 100 million alone in India, it is well over 300 million now.

Again, you have 1.3 billion people. That's not a huge penetration.

You are counting most women and children as well.

This is India's demographics by age from 2001, when the population was 1 billion.
http://censusindia.gov.in/Census_And_You/age_structure_and_marital_status.aspx
400-500 million may not have a bank account, they are too young. And about 200 million are too old to be interested in technology.

Also what you described is what every nation does, just not with fingerprints. It's a card. Or more specifically a number.

As I said, Aadhaar isn't about digital payments alone.

. .
Haha. People are more keen on leaving villages. It's called urbanization.

If I leave India and go to Afghanistan, it will be called brain drain.

You are one of those typical characters, who thinks he knows what's the best for the country while seeped in ignorance.
We dont need your brain. You talibani minded quack.

Enough of your drama.

. .
Whom do you call we?

Who gave you India ?

There is a great deal of intolerance in our country.

Happily, though slow delayed fuse, there is also a great deal of intolerance to intolerance.
