What's new

India has requested for six MQ-9 drones from the US at the cost of $600 million.

Sounds like a made up story of some two bit bollywood journalist. The Americans never placed such conditions on the F-16's.

You dont need air to air missiles to fight terrorists, nor do you need a full avionics suite. They knew exactly what they were selling and what it would be used for.
Yes they did my friend
Yes they did my friend, the condition was that these were to be used against insurgencies and to be used against foreign aggression.

It's funny. China literally builds 90% of the drones in the world. China has the world's largest civil drone company that even the US uses.

And India thinks it can compete with China in drones by buying?

Doesn’t make sense over here in the US I have to deal with Pajeets and they cry about pricing as if I’m stealing their wife’s jewelry and here they just giving it away.

Place a request and we would.buy two squadrons of JF17 for you.doesn't look good a humsaya mulq having a begging bowl or PM of that country driving cabs to make someone feel happy for aid.

Still it is very expensive, has the news been confirmed by Indian media ??
Media confirms whoever pays em which is why you keep seeing articles that IAF is interested in F-16/F-18/Gripen every now and then. Certain Indian media outlets are under the payroll of Yanks or Russians and a few chinese

Unless there's an official confirmation from MoD or IAF, I'd take it with a grain of salt

soo many of these reapers were shot down by talibs with ak
some were sold to pakistan
one particular incident i remember when it was bought by pakistani authorities for 25 million pkr
of coarse the wreckage
drones r good but not game changing weapon
its just a low cost flying machine supposed to be expendable
not exactly a 100 mil a piece
shame on the decision makers

Milking time. Also it depicts lack of trust on 'Made in India' products which Modi Govt used to boast a lot.

anyways all these procurement is more likely to be used against Pakistan since against China, they will never dare to cross a line. They got the dose in July already.
Earlier They Got the Dose in Feb too.. Please dont forget such historic moments

We aren't desperate enough to sell to you hood rats to then tarnish the reputation of our equipment. You did wonders for Russia and let's keep it that way bhangee.

Wing Loong costs 2 million just for the drone .. compared to 16 million for the Reaper.

But then you get ..what you pay for.

Because Wing Loong is a disposable weapon, just like any UAV should be. For China, lose 100 Wing Loong is less painful than for India to lose their overpriced Reapers. If China's military deployment cost at India border is less than India's deployment cost, then it is more painful for India to maintain their troops at their border. Thus it will burden India's economy more than China.

With current economy condition in our world, that will be very painful for India. while it is a walk in the park for China.

At $16 million per drone.. MQ 9 is not over priced..but is priced to the technology and ISTAR abilities it offers.

That is why it has a market in the countries that can afford it.

At more that $250 million per aircraft ..A f 22 is 10 times more expensive than a Chinese JF 17. But then we all know the difference in abilities of these two aircrafts.

Similarly there is a generation gap between the American second generation drones and Chinese first generation drones.

Exactly so clearly those aircraft can be used for whatever purpose the PAF requires, rather than the role of counter-insurgency only like you claim.
Counter Insurgency and Defensive operations against a foreign aggression were the conditions

That price is for US military or their allies, for India, it's 100 million :D

I spoke to some one influential, it has strings attached. Us will be the frontline state against china, Any attack post 20th oct will be an attack on us to/quad to
Go &chuck the influential’s @ick. If remotely true you are paying for protection. #ucking 4 musketeers 3 weeks before the US election.

Nonesense !!

On 27 June 2013, the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to France for 16 unarmed MQ-9s, associated equipment, ground control hardware, and support, worth up to $1.5 billion total.

That is $94 million per drone which can not be armed.

US is a free market economy..Price of the drone and all it's support equipment is same for all the customers.

US government charges a fixed rate of 4 percent commission on all government to government deals.

Issue here is .. Pakistanis and Chinese members here are not able to differentiate between fly away cost of an aircraft ($ 16 million) and life cycle cost of the same aircraft along with it support equipments and weapons packages.($100 million)
