🔰India has approved the sale of indigenous Akash missiles, other weapons systems and air platforms for export.🇮🇳🇮🇳🇵🇭🇵🇭🇻🇳🇻🇳🇦🇪🇦🇪

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the decision to sell weapons to achieve India’s target of $5 billion exports and improving strategic relations with friendly foreign countries, Indian media reported.

Vietnam, Philippines and U.A.E. have reportedly shown interest in buying Akash missile system.

Akash can target aircraft up to 30 km away, at altitudes up to 18,000 m. The system provides air defence missile coverage for an area of 2,000 km². It has the capability to neutralize aerial targets like fighter jets, cruise missiles and air-to-surface missiles as well as ballistic missiles.

An Akash battery comprises a single Rajendra 3D passive electronically scanned array radar and four launchers with three missiles each, all of which are interlinked. Each battery can track up to 64 targets and attack up to 12 of them. The missile has a 60 kg high-explosive, pre-fragmented warhead with a proximity fuse. The Akash system is fully mobile and capable of protecting a moving convoy of vehicles.

Export version of the system will be different from the one used by the Indian armed forces.

In addition, Abu Dhabi is looking at Astra 70km range air-to-air missile. These missiles can be armed on Mirage jets operated by the country.

UAE? No way.

Because they can afford and get state of the art, more advanced weapons system from West.
cant there be other reasons why UAE would want to buy Indian weapons??

China copies 70 era Russian defence systems.
You mean the old HQ-12? It is a second rates SAM a generation behind our latest HQ-9B. I think your Akash the most can matched our second rated domestic missile.

Akash missile is a very important part of cold start doctrine of India. It is designed in such a way that it can move with the battle group by protecting it in 30 km radius with 360 degree coverage
It is powered throughout its flight and hence highly maneuverable in its terminal phase. it is a command guided missile and hence cannot be jammed. it has a great accuracy and it's a algorithm is refined by fine-tuning it over hundreds of its tasts. it uses Ram Jet propulsion and hence it maintains Mach 3 speed throughout its flight and do not offer maneuvering target any chance to escape. This is the reason why Indian Air Force and Indian Army has become very big fan of this Missile system. The Missile which took around 600 crore rupees to develop has got over 50000 crore rupees of order. This is a envious success for any e defence research agency.

Agreed.... if UAE wants they can get THAAD or advanced version of PAC from USA.... I think UAE is just mixed up by mistake.... or maybe if they are looking for something short range air defense then AKASH they are just evaluating.... but for short range also they have plenty of advanced western options....
