Fantastic pic.'s. Nagpur metro pillars are the most advanced re: civil works.

Technically speaking, TBM's are India's magic wand. India got lucky.

India's infrastructure push, cheap Global finance and India's economic resurgence have come together to make India TBM country. The Himalayas and metro boring is escalating and is likely to further accelerate. For the size of the works involved, India is lucky for the above things to come together at the approx. right time even if TBM's tech. preceded India's infra push and money a couple of decades after the Channel boring project in EU.

Re: critical feedback, I would like to see Indian e-TBM's, designed and made in India with battery and direct electric drive running of training electric wire. L&T, Escorts, Tata, BEML are missing form action. Existing and said dredging and mining OEM's should also consider moving into canal building aggregates, which may be mechanically a simpler and easier TBM. Indian govt. too should turn India into a Global TBM hub because the Himalayas alone can keep all the worlds TBM's put together busy for a 100 yrs.

I was thinking Bombay, Calcutta, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad but not Delhi have large water bodies and soft mud which makes it easy to not only bore but re-deploy the idle TBM's. Hyderabad and Delhi have large rock formations and rocky soil re: the Aravalli and rocks in Hyderabad re: metro works. Also, youtube has this video re: India's TBM's.
A Documentary

Off topic, Bangalore and Hyderabad are scheduled to end up with 200 and 100 sq. ft. of all kinds of office space, the majority of which would be new, Global, Grade A type IT Parks and SEZ's by 2020.

So, Banglore and Hyderabad will have space for 10 and 5 million sq. ft. of Global IT/BPO space by 2020. That's 10 and 5 million jobs in Bangalore and Hyderabad in the white collar job space alone. These two are also heavy into manufacturing.

Note the total population of Bangalore and Hyderabad is 10 million and 8 million total respectively - including kids, the aged the sick and the disabled.

Chennai, Pune, Kochi are adding IT & BPO space like no tomorrow also.

The above excludes office spaces in

  • Secunderabad, Ameerpet, Panjagutta and Aabids

Last word. Present day India is bequeathing $ US 1.28 Trillion in wealth to India via bank accounts, property and other assets like Gold in the form of jewelry, diamonds, livestock, canals, infrastructure etc.

Sweet pic., I have a question re: the topic and subject.

Sometime ago an article said that a new law will make metro and mass rapid systems related land acquisition in Indian cities will become a a right for the builder. Right-of-Way type thing.

Anybody care to elaborate. For eg., they make elevated metro in Delhi's Dwarka, Gurgaon and Noida even there's enough land around to build at grade, non-elevated metro. This approach will improve the rest of the ground infrastructure too re: rail and road bridges/underpasses.

Elevated track, minus land costs may or may not be costly, but the patronage to labour, steel and cement cartels ... Politicians ... and politically expeditious and profitable to do elevated metro re: all the patronage opportunities. Comments pls.
