India will get there but it will take a long long time. In India everything moves slowly but they the Indians are capable of putting together some great infra feats.

We travelled on the Worli sea link in Mumbai and it's a very good piece engineering. The Delhi Metro is also a great example as well as the New Delhi international airport and the Golden Triangle freeway.

If India can get it's act together you will see a lot more tourist and also Indias economy going great guns.

The reason the economy is slowing down in India is because the infra is not up to the mark as yet.

Thank you for you Post. You are one of the Indophiles on this forum (which is quite rare) and your post have always been very encouraging of India. At the same time you have rightly pointed out the issues that India faces esp. wrt. the lack of respect for women which is very shameful and we must apologies to you and your family for what you had to go through personally.

Lack of respect of women is a major problem that India faces and it can only be improved as women become more and more empowered. This is happening but sadly this change will take time esp. in North India. Education is the key and hopefully things will be better when you visit next time.

Regarding lack of cleanliness and very little care for environment, as you have rightly pointed out is a major issue. The main problem in India is that of Population. People in western world hardly realize how much that matters. Here are a few numbers. The ratio of population to land between India and US over 1:9. I think the ratio would be even worse for Canada and Australia. That matters a lot. Also compounded to that the the infrastructure in India is at least 20 years behind any other developed country. All of this put enormous burden on people. We have to work on improving the infrastructure.

At the same time we can't move out our country men and replace them with people from some other nationalities, as someone pointed out, just because they are poor or are just plain stupid. They need to be educated and made sensitive to the feeling of others. I guess that will take time but I believe that is the right thing to do.

Rightly said. India is for Indians and Indians are for India. India is made because of Indians. It is like a mother and sons relationship. If one son is bad that does not make the mother throw him out of the house!

We threw the British out of India and that is it, now we will sustain and develop and progress together

Mother-Son ... hehe ... there's even a Co. called Motherson Sumi, wot?
(Motherson-Sumi (Gandhi-Son (maybe world's biggest Co. in its business))

Try:

No doubt India is developing....but in some pockets...where as some areas still remains neglected...a homogeneous development would have a higher impact on the nation as a whole.

NE should be the top priority, it should be connected with the rest of India by high speed rail network and and dedicated freight corridor should be set up for business to SE asia and beyond.Bangladesh could also help in building this infra since they can also use the freight and road network for connectivity with China and SE asia
