India declines to give Dhaka corridor

How can India take a unilateral decision on the matter since it involves Bhutan and Nepal too? All four countries need to sit together and chalk out an agreement.

So what's the big deal opening this thread? Again, clutching at straws to portray India in bad light as is the habit of most BD Jamatis here! Jeeez!

You obviously did not get my point! My point is the transit is not Nepal's headache! It is Bangladesh's problem. If we can have cables from one end of the Atlantic to the other having cables through China and Myanmar is very much possible!I am not saying it is practical but possible! Now,It should not be a tripartite matter because Bangladesh will pay for the transit and Nepal will only sell electricity!Do you get it?

The matter is not as simple as you put it to be....The agreement to buy and sell is between Nepal and BD but lines have to pass through India...Now who shall be paying for the installation charges?? Who will pay for maintenance?? How much money will come as royalty and who will pay for it?? These matters cant be discussed by India and BD alone. Nepal has to be a party to it. You get it?

How can India Bangladesh decide on matter which also have Bhutan and Nepal as party...

Only BD members in PDF can answer this....:cheesy:

Indians understands very well transit is bilateral issue between Bangladesh and India NOT Nepal or Bhutan. They are here to echo indian govt lie and deception.

It is india that has to give transit not Bhutan or Nepal, they are selling electricity to Bangladesh, so labeling indian transit a "tripartite matter" is the blatent lie and deception.

And who's gonna ensure whether Nepal or Bhutan wants their electricity to route through India?? In any case, the seller needs to be involved to see if they are ok with the arrangement? Do you agree?

Read the news, Bangladesh already has bilateral understanding with Nepal to have joint venture hydro project. Don't use more lie and deception to cover previous indian lie. India already has zero credibility in Bangladesh and with anyone india dealt with.

Yeah you have bilateral understanding for HYDRO PROJECT. Do you have any understanding on the cost of transmission lines or cost for maintenance??

Height of intelligence.

Transmission through India is a bilateral issue between BD and Nepal/Bhutan.

Then why even involve India. Go and talk to Nepal/Bhutan.

How many indians will repeat same point of lie? As news stated Bangladesh already has agreement with Nepal for joint venture hydro power project. Transmission is through india and india has to agree to it NOT Nepal.

“The Nepalese counterpart has already agreed to initiate a joint-venture hydroelectric project in Nepal,” the Power Division officials informed.

All BD members are requested to first kindly read the article then post and discuss it...
Off late we are seeing they are just seeing India- bangladesh in tittle and start barking....

These jamaties want to gain advantage of India without conceding anything, even dumbest of dumb creature will easily comprehend that it's illogical .If they want transient route then they must be ready give one to India also. There shouldn't be charity on the part of India only pure business.

Is there any reason why Nepal should pay for it??If the whole plan of production+supply came as a package we would not be talking to India. We would pay directly to Nepal and Nepal would give the due for transit to India. It is not a package deal and the production and transit are separate issues.Either Bangladesh will pay for it with money or there will be a trade-off!It does not concern Nepal.

If Nepal has any objection about India they will voice it to BD and tell us that they will not sell if we get the lines through India.

Bangladesh approached india for many years for tripatriate hydro development in Nepal but india turned it down every time. So this "tripatriate" excuse is just sheer indian lie and deception.

Bangladesh Import electricity from India By july
The Bangladesh government will import 250-megawatt electricity from India by july, 2013. which will cost Tk 4 per unit excluding transmission expense.

Power Secretary Manwarul Islam and Indian Power Secretary P. Uma Shankar made the disclosure after a meeting of Bangladesh-India Joint Steering Committee Thursday.

They discuses mainly two thing, coal based Rampal power station and 250 MW electricity import situation from India.

The meeting also expressed satisfaction over the working progress, including the cross-border transmission line installation cost.

Indian Power Secretary said maximum installation and development works have been finished and rest of the work would be completed before July next.

In July 2010, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) signed a 35-year power transmission agreement with Power Grid Company of India Ltd. (PGCIL) to import 250-megawatt of electricity from India.

P. Uma Shankar was co-chair along with Secretary, Power Division of Bangladesh, the 5th meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Steering Committee on Power Cooperation.

This meeting will be preceded by the first Board meeting of the “India-Bangladesh Friendship Power Company”. The India-Bangladesh Friendship Power Company is a joint venture between NTPC Limited of India and Bangladesh Power Development Corporation, that has been formed to build the 1320 MW thermal power project at Rampal in Khulna.

In addition to reviewing the progress on the Rampal project, Indian Power Secretary will also discuss the progress in the procurement of 500 MW power from India, and initiatives to expand cooperation in the sector between India and Bangladesh.

Why so cheap... only 4 taka?? that is like 2 rupees. We in south India are paying average 5 to 10 rupees per unit.

India is not crazy to allow a transmission line through its air going to an Islamic state!

Bengalis need to do something in return.. which profit hindus 100 folds more.
