India crosses 10GW solar deployment – MNRE

You didn't answer my question: who are you? And what are you credentials to represent the entire nation of India?

This thread was interesting mate... and then you trolled...

May I ask..who are you to question in the first place?? U r behaving as some authority in solar power generation field...and why you quoted China when the subject was India's solar power generation.

By the way....kudos for your troll efforts.....keep it up.

My comment is towards large scale solar farms which are spread across acres of lands thus increasing the sun radiation exposure area for the birds resulting them to fry.

But overall if you compare it with greenhouse gases emitted from coal and thermal powerplants it is way less.
The plant in the story by latimes is solar thermal and not PV solar, PV panels have anti reflective quoting to absorb as much sunlight as possible to increase the panel efficiency. So the claims of heat concentration and altering humidity are absolutely rubbish.
At least read your references before you post them. Following is an excerpt of the conclusive remarks from the paper you have attached.
Analysis of 18 months of detailed data showed that in most days, the solar array was completely cooled at night, and, thus, it is unlikely that a heat island effect could occur. Our simulations also show that the access roads between solar fields allow for substantial cooling, and therefore, increase of the size of the solar farm may not affect the temperature of the surroundings. Simulations of large (e.g., 1 million m2 ) solar fields are needed to test this hypothesis.

Bro...case of bird deaths is for mirror based solar projects....but rn in India we are concentrating on PV cell based projects...which don't have those problems!

Sorry, if I understood it wrong. But I still believe it may be best solution but it is not the perfect solution as the solar cells creation and generation is not a pollution free manufacturing process.
PS: I am a big supporter of renewable energy including wind, waves and ofcourse solar.

Nothing is 100% pollution free....!
Btw....you know how many birds get killed by wind turbines...you need to check that out!! Tidal energy has it's impact on marine life!!

There is a world consensus on greenhouse gases as the main source of pollution and climate change and non of the renewable energy sources have this as byproduct.

But while manufacturing these products you'll burn a lot of energy...manufacturing plants of these products release green house gases!!

I will get back to you with specifics as I myself am unaware of the manufacturing process but still it's a one time process which will contribute for almost 20-25 years.

I partly agree with you that it is a onetime thing...I'm simply saying that no process of energy generation is 100% pollution free!!
Consider manufacturing of a wind mill....right from the mining of ore to final product you need to burn fuel at every single stage!!

Yes I agree thats what I am talking about. There are side effects of these technologies.

But traditional coal based power plant do way more damage!!
Thats what I mentioned in my original post too.. The quantum of negative impact on atmosphere is very low compared to traditional coal based power plants but still the current technology is not at that level where can say it is perfect solution.

There can never be any perfect solution!!
