Why is China's defence budget three times that of India's? Because China has many more fronts, from India to Russia, USA, CIS Republics, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Vietnam etc to name a few. India on the other hand has just Pakistan and China to contend with.

So this $100 billion budget is nothing to get overly jittery about. It's not about India alone! China has many adversaries and its need to dominate the South China Sea for its huge energy resources. All this comes at a price.
