The issue is that we do not use our leverage over world bodies, can any nation (even US) dare to talk about issues like Tibet, Taiwan or human rights in China??? It is impossible to even think of. In the same way India should make this clear to the world that Kashmir is our internal matter & no nation has any authority to talk about it, especially at world platforms like UN.

UNITED NATIONS: India’s external affairs minister took on Pakistan at the United Nations on Monday for raising the disputed Himalayan territory of Kashmir.

S. M. Krishna told the General Assembly that India has resumed dialogue with Pakistan and wants to normalise relations.

But he lashed out at a speech last week by President Asif Ali Zardarif, saying the neighboring nation had no business meddling in India’s predominantly Muslim state of Jammu and Kashmir, which India claims as sovereign territory.

”An unwarranted reference has been made to Jammu and Kashmir from this podium,” he said, adding, ”We wish to make it abundantly clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.”

Zardari said in his speech that Kashmir remained ”a symbol of the failures of the United Nations system rather than its strengths.” He said a solution could only be reached in an ”environment of cooperation.”

As the annual high-level meeting of the General Assembly wound down on Monday night, representatives of India and Pakistan traded several rounds of rebuttals before a mostly empty chamber.

A violent separatist insurgency that started in 1989 drew a crackdown by Indian forces that has killed about 68,000 people in Kashmir, where public resentment against Indian rule runs deep.

The rebellion is largely suppressed, with occasional flare-ups. The Indian army said last week that a fierce gunbattle killed a suspected rebel and a soldier.

Earlier this month, Indian police arrested Merajuddin Wani, one of the longest-surviving rebel commanders in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

A very unnessery and immature statement by Krishna that neighboring nation has no business in 'india's predominantly Muslim state' and then he went on to say he wished to make it abundantly clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an 'integral' part of India
Well you cant say that abt a disputed territory where you have 7 lakh army to supress the population just because they want to join a Muslim Country with whom they share religious, cultural and moral values.That basically shows that their country is not in the mood of negotiations but are in the mood of endorsing their say at us n the World. what a Shame

Indian Army is over 350,000.

Para Militaries Rashtriya Rifles, BSF etc etc over 360,000.

All these commit massive human rights violations. No difference between Indian Army and the remaining security echelons in butchering Kashmiri people. They kill their own people in cold blood and hide behind POTA.

The Army is there because terrorists enters from Kashmir through Pakistan. If you really care about Kashmiri's lives, take steps against these terrorists safe haven and training camp, which even China has demanded because of Xinjiang province.

Arny personnel commit crimes, but there are always bad apples in every organization. You are blaming our entire army.

My question still stands what is that 7lakh or whatever is doing there who is not even 4% of the mainland territory of yr country
