India cancels plans to buy 48 Mi-17 V5 helicopters from Russia

The PL-15 has conventional solid rocket motor, lacks NEZ while the Meteor has ramjet engine... Enough said.

The pl15 is still able to cover a 200km+ range with a dual thrust solid fuel motor where as the meteor can cover a 100km+ range.

Nuff said

This is indeed a problem for India. That is why Putin's war is not in India's interest. It is an unnecessary foreign policy nightmare :cray:
Exactly. 8-) Slava Ukraine. Hopefully when the Ukrainian attack back into Russia, with western supplies munitions, they hit the Russian defense industries as well. So please don’t leave your allies the Russkies, your strategic partners need you more then ever.

Right now it’s just sanctions against the Russian defense industry, soon it might be missiles destroying the helicopter plant in Rostov.

If Pakistan were to cancel foreign equipment and opt for indigenous solutions, then I as an Indian would be very worried.
But some rivers do flow backwards. 8-)

Actually, hal has saved millions of rupees by developing the helicopters locally.

Hal is going good on helicopters field.

Indian navy has achieved for ship building, hal has achieved foe helicopters building and still progressive for new helicopters..

Now coming decades should be good for fighter aircrafts -

Looking good with - next
Hal mk1a with AeSA radar, and astra air to air missile with range over 150.

Once missile will be integrated with the Su 30 mki with Aesa radar and Astra 2 missile - 160 km range.

Hal tejas mk1a will be good for intercepter role against to any adversary aircrafts from China or Pakistan to deal with..... Not included 5 generation fighter.

Good decision.

India should focus on locally build helicopters...

Hal druv - over 450 helicopters
Hal LuH - 3 - in production
Hal LCH - 3 - in production

Target achieved to develop above helicopters and the next target should be to replace mi17 helicopters with below one.

Indian Multi Role Helicopter

Yea Another General dying in a Locally Built Helicopter will be a good advertisement.

Or some realities become hard to digest like calling Tejas as Indigenious but JF-17 as Chinese mall.
We’re talking about helicopters rn, IAF has shelved it to buy more ALH and IMRH (in future).

@Raj-Hindustani @Wood Does India has a similar plane (like mi 17) built indigenously? Or with a JV?
IMRH under works

Unsure, what you meant by saying it.

Over 450 Hal made helicopters flying in the country without any issue.

Hal LCH and HAL ALH just completed the development. Now entered in productions.

Now only medium weight helicopter is pending to develop and it will be do in next 5-6 years.

More than 1000 Hal made helicopters will be flying in next couple of decades

That... Cannot be used in this circumstance. You good?

Tfw you realise the amount of imported parts for the Tejas 🤡

What is your opinion on Saab Gripen?

Is it a Saab made? Or just like Hal tejas - imported aircraft......

Because both developed in-house only but few major parts are imported?

Not doing mistake than just like engine and injection seat are imported for jf 17 by china.

Tejas is not indigenously built
