India calls for UN Security Council reforms this year

Cause 40% of Japanese casualties were suffered in China. we paid this seat with lives and blood, without millions of us fighting large campaigns in China, other allies will suffer hundreds of thousands more casualities.

Chinese suffered and rescued by US and its allies.

What do that has to do with the current scenario and blocking UN reforms?

It is like my great grand father did some good and saying his name I can twirl my moustache and keep the power with me.
India can make a difference and can make the lives of people better, reason why India is asking for reforms.

So did we 2.5 million Indian Solders served against the Axis forces around the world in all theaters where the war was fought

Veto can be used for any reason, see how we vetoed the Syria resolution despite the US and NATO warning and threatening us not to.

So if you have any problem with us at all, you can just veto without giving an explanation.

Well you could if you had veto power. But you don't, in fact it is the other way around.
You being in P5 what have you done to India, did you help in anyway to Pakistan in 48,65,71,99 the answer is big fat no. We get the nuclear deal after all your crying were you able to stop India again the answer is no.
You are harping for Twang for last 50 years, what have you done.
See, UN is already a toothless organization as you said you did veto Syrian resolution does it help Syrian the answer is again no as the NATO bombed the shit out of Syria. So other than self boasting what have you achieved that India is not able to achieve without being in Security council. India want to be part of Security council with other P4 as it will correct the balance of UN security council, as far as resolution go now also no work is happening and with India joining also no work will be done in UN. So i don't see much problem.:-):-)

You were given the seat, you were part of UK then. Only independent countries can be those members.

Actually the veto in case of Syria helped assad.... and served Russia and China's interests.

tell me again when did the PRC got her seat, you sir are being hypocrite when you ignore Indian contribution to the War which was one of the largest of the free world
Anyways it's pointless to discuss since your govt acknowledges our role in the war & supports our bid to get a seat

.
China used veto powers in SCS, Tibet, Taiwan... It's a great card that China can play. it's very nice to have it anyway.

There'll be no UNSC reform in foreseeable future, let's wait and see.

.
Maybe not, but being in the P5 means you can veto any resolution you like. Which means being able to keep anyone out of the P5 if it serves our interests to do so.

Veto is useful, no UNSC resolution can be passed against a veto member.

Why do you think the G4 want it too?
UN is a collective body with due respect to powerful nations. If a nation which is 3rd largest economy and 4th largest Army does not get its due weightage, then this UN can not be effective.

And how you have come to that conclusion, I clearly see Veto was not enough and NATO did what they wanted, irrespective of the decision of Security council was there.

Seriously rhetoric is one thing.. Getting anything done on the ground is another.. @Razia Sultana .. Its simple comprehension.. India has a territorial dispute with the UNSC permanent member China.. And no way will that member give India any chance to counter balance it without solving that problem first

Now China is already a member so there is no question of her being disqualified, India the opponent of the said dispute is not

I would not like to think most of you are not so ignorant as to think the US, Britain and France are likely to diminish their influence over the UNSC by including India despite the periodic statements to the contrary , On the other side China will veto it despite in an very very unlikely scenario if any of the other members propose a change, Whatever diplomatic statement they make, Thats what diplomacy means.. Only likely ally would be Russia but that counts to nothing

NUMBERS DO NOT MATTER, The UNSC is not a democratic entity.. Not india Not Japan Not Germany have any chance to get in to the body as it stands and is unlikely to change

Don't know which country you are talking about..Japan? Japan doesn't have a large standing army.

The UN is already a toothless org and had been for decades.. And whatever else you have mentioned counts for zilch in terms of India getting a permanent seat

Note: Japan is the third largest economy btw

I just mentioned that a nation which is 3rd largest economy and 4th largest military can not be ignored for long. All P5 including China have supported India's candidature. If any nation has a vision, she wont oppose India's entry into UNSC. The very demand of G-4 and acceptance by the P5 suggests the standing of G-4.

So you think the UNSC is a useless organization, then why are you so desperate to join it?

India is always saying the UNSC is useless and unfair, but why are they still so desperate to get a permanent seat?
