What's new

India building defence capabilities like China: Antony

Its a good thing to promote your own language but using a foreign language that has occupied whole of the world is not a bad thing either. Most of the world's information is in English.

Chinese language is indeed a very old language, just like Sanskrit. And by the way Sanskrit is known to be the mother language of many languages. Search on the internet Pro-Indo-European languages. I am sure Sanskrit has history older than Chinese.

I think it is also not a matter to correct the spellings or language of others. This is a forum where people of different origins communicate and hence it should be the point that the point is clear:azn:

KIT Over n Out

CORRECTION: Chinese is THE oldest extant language in the world (far surpassing even Sanskrit by several THOUSAND years), and possibly the oldest full-language in the world. It is the MOST spoken and written language in the world, and contains comparably more knowledge than English (with exception of perhaps in science & tech areas). Considering the Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese are directly descendents (especially Kanji and Vietnamese) its user base is extremely wide.

The reason why most def.pk members don't realize its importance is because of their history of being colonialized. Do you know there are more Internet users and websites/pages that is in Chinese than English?! Open your minds, spread your horizons by learning Chinese. Benefits include: culture, friends, music, movies, science, tech, politics, business, etc.

China was already sailing and exploring the ENTIRE globe before the first stone block of the first Egyptian pyramids were laid. Just think about that. :)

If I can learn Chinese as a second language, so can others! :)

What is a troll?

In email discussion lists, online forums, and Usenet newsgroups, a troll is not a grumpy monster that lives beneath a bridge accosting passers-by, but rather a provocative posting intended to produce a large volume of frivolous responses. The term can also refer to someone making such a posting ("a troll") or to the action ("trolling", "to troll").

Thanks for your valuable input. Here a broad example. Name any 3 military tech which has developed by China itself. I'm giving you an hour. Hope you will give at least one name.

1) Missiles

2) Bomb

3) Cannon

All 3 are ancient Chinese inventions, all 3 are crucial in modern artillery, and all 3 are original Chinese inventions. :china:

it is the result when india spent the same budget

Correct me if I'm wrong but the oldest form of Mandarin is 'Old Chinese' which originated in 1100 BC and Vedic Sanskrit (Old Indic) was compiled between 2000BC and 1500BC.

Yes, I shall correct your misunderstanding. Mandarin is only a dialect, that is a way of pronouncing sounds. Pronunciation of words changes over time as a natural phenonmen of people passing language to their offsprings.

Chinese can be divided into different periods. The most ancient of which is the Bone-Shell Era, which based on inscriptions on bones and shells and other objects. This is much older than Bronze Era.

These characters are NOT just some random "words", but complete sentence with proper grammar conveying complex abstract ideas ==> the definition of a "full-language". There are a LOT of archeological evidence which many language scholars around the world study -- and this is not limited to only Chinese scholars, Japanese and Korean and Vietnamese scholars are significant because they share the same history. Every year, more archeological discoveries are being made, some recent, some even more ancient.

A few centuries ago the oldest discovered evidence was dated about 5,000+ years ago. Now 7,000+ and 10,000+ archeological evidence have been verified by INTERNATIONAL OBSERVORS (not just Chinese) at the dig site. So this is not "fake" evidence, if that is what you are believing.

:)

I agree with you. Indeed, Chinese civilization is matchless. But I am talking about the origin of languages. Sanskrit language gave birth to many languages like Hindi, Hindustani, Urdu, Punjabi and many others which I forget. Chinese language has been an old language indeed but we dont find much interaction of this with other languages, resemblence I mean. This resemblence shows that how rich a language is. English is a product of Latin, and has a lot of French. Can you narrate some languages which include Chinese????

Urdu includes Hindi, English, Punjabi etc words. English has Hindi, Urdu, Dutch, German, and even Red Indian words. Hindi has a collection of words from Urdu, Punjabi and English. All three have different lexicograph.

China and Chinese are great but Chinese can't be used as "Langua Franca" whereas English can be.

Thanks

You have a source for that 5000+ years claim?

And BTW, Proto-Indo-Iranian (part of Centum-Satem) developed in 3000 BC. (Source: The Indo-Aryan Languages by Colin P. Masica; ISBN 0521299446, 9780521299442). I can list several more sources if you want.

You can either:

1) become a archeologist, or join in an archeology club

OR

2) visit a museum

OR

3) do a search (yourself)

to get your evidence. :)

None of above are completely true " Tamil is the oldest language like " Sankrit language which is not the origin of all Indian languages. Yes it is to the Indo Aryan languages like Hindi and punjabi but not to the indgenious Languages like Tamil a mother of all other languages like Malayalm ,Telugu Kannadam and etc,,,,The birth of Tamil Language is unknown but one of the earliest text is even dating back 5000bc, which clearly speaks for itself,Tamil as the OLDEST LANGUAGE still in existence..
