India Begs US Not To Leave Afghanistan

US will leave, there is no doubt. They can not sustain the costs of operations on a continuous basis. But when, will be the issue. The question of withdrawl does not arise with the present prevalent situation. Obama's statement of withdrawl may only be for domestic consumption

As for India "begging" ... we dont. At worst, we will have to stop all work there and focus more on military support for Afghani National Army in which even Iran and Russia will again jump in keeping in view the absence of US troops and common threat - back to the days of Northern Alliance. For all you know, we may just see Iranians doing more than simply suporting.

Only downside to a US withdrawl will be the increase in available "non-state" actors, as GoP loves to call them, who can be pushed into J&K by official "non-state" Pakistani ISI "rogue" elements, to bolster the insurgency in that state and we may see an upward spiral in level of violence in valley.

This may not be bad at all as more influx of foreign fighters would be deterimental to the overall cause of "freedom" for Kashmir as we know what happened the last time there was a surge in numbers of foreign fighters in valley - the price exacted of the people they were fighting to 'free' was too high for those very people!

We welcome US withdrawl. It shall give us more space ....
You started well in the first two paragraphs, but what happened in the remaining two?

Anywaz, here's a question; how many Pathan fighters did india actually kill or catch in Kashmir. Dont confuse it with '47-'48 war.

If we need to send in people crooks in lame organizations like JuD can do the 'service' very well

Moreover, we also have our share of Thackerys and Modis who can also 'help' getting the job done

We dont require Afg for the purpose. It is just another false claim and an attempt to "Appeal to Fear" by india to hide its nefarious designs inside Afg and malign Pakistan, meanwhile show Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism, although india herself have unleashed un-matchable state-terrorism inside Kashmir.

India............BEGS.................!!!

Hmmmmm! Somehow I am reminded of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE!!

It is really amusing to see the Indians jump up and down on the use of the word 'beg'! Whereas,

1. India 'begged' of the USA to declare Pakistan a terrorist state after 26/11

2. Statistically speaking, India remains the largest country in the world with the number of 'beggars'

So despite the Indian objections, the title suits the thread and conveys the message very well!

funny isnt it yet india is second fastest growing economy

yet it doesnt begs other country

:undecided:the article though considered meaningless cause of the author by the same person who has started the the thread-(dont know why any sane person would post an article in which he does not believe in ...and that too by posting the article with a different thread title that what the article states????:hitwall:)......

You need to learn much about foruming.

You probably mean that all Pakistanis should post articles that show urine colas and dog marriages and the indian should do the same by posting articles about rapes and slums?

Well, now if you are done with Ad hominem, can we discuss the issue at hand?

if america leaves it willl be dangerous to this whole region

and when i say whole region it means later whole world

Can the original poster show where the article shows that India begs US to stay on in Af?

Logically pls, no ranting. Thanks.

Second to who? Prove it before you babble!

Oh you BEG alright! You are just too stupid and arrogant to admit it publicly!

search it

and for the bolded part we don get billions from other countries

You probably didn't need to flame the topic in order to draw attention but it appears you've done so.

The article's author makes some significant assumptions and leaps of logic that aren't likely sustainable. The notion that Asia will become the refuge of islamist, communist, and rogue criminal governments is somewhat silly since mainland Asia to a great extent is already yet has not represented any overt threat to mankind aside from A.Q.

America will begin leaving in mid-2011, make no mistake. Obama has an election the following year and he'll wish to show a withdrawal. By boosting forces now he gains a temporary influx of combat power to help matters now as well as creating an artificial ceiling of troops from which to begin drawing down.

While such a withdrawal shall happen, he can slowly remove many thousands of troops and still not draw down to our PRESENT levels much less dramatically below that. Conditions on the ground, government officials hastened to state in the aftermath of Obama's speech, will drive that drawdown.

Well, any fool can see that even without an insurgency Afghanistan's conditions were and still are abysmal. So too they shall likely be in mid-2011 so nobody is taking that especially seriously except those eager to resume a full-fledged assault on the GoA from within Pakistan.

Pakistan's government recognizes the GoA's legitimacy and, in so doing, also recognizes the GoA's right to self-determination-to include foreign policy relationships. Nobody would dare tell Pakistan how many consulates it might permit the Chinese government inside its borders and all understand that Pakistan upholds this principle also for its friendly Afghan neighbors. Thus, India will remain in Afghanistan so long as the Afghan government and people desire such.

So too, it seems, Pakistan whom have exactly the same consulates and embassy in the exact same cities as India. No more nor less.

Much ado about nothing but sure meant to excite passions and distort reality.

Thanks.:usflag:

If that's what Indians believe, then there will surely never be peace.

Can the Indian press really make outrageous claims like that without any evidence?

The problem is this level of assistance is basically "Attack Pakistan". Pakistan is the country that lets you into Afghanistan in the first place.

This article is testament to what Pakistanis have been saying over and over. India's Afghanistan intentions are to use it to launch attacks upon Pakistan and here it is pleading that US joins hands with it.

Asim, There are as many lunatics in India as there are in Pakistan. Just like this article, you have interviews and articles in Pakistan press talking about conquering India and Nuking it or asking Kashmiri Mujahidden to go and destroy all the dams in north india. The views of such people can not be dubbed as voice/strategy of India just like I hope the pakistani examples I quoted do not represent the popular Pakistani view..

The contents of this post have little or no relevance to the intended subject of post # 1.

Beggars in India are a result of population coupled with issues related to distribution of wealth.

Yet, I feel this is better than being a nation living on the dole & running the risk of collapse if aid were stopped. Individual beggars can be stopped or controlled, what options does a nation have ?

Once US is out Pakistan is gonna have more mess, not that it is not now. But things could be worse , look at Afganistan

The issue is, people are interpreting words like asking/appealing/requesting/offering/proposing as "begging"....This gives somewhat a different colour.
Few examples:

(1) UN appealed to all nations to help Haiti quake victims.
(2) India asked Australia to look into the attacks on Indians.
(3) India offered Pakaistan for a talk.
(4) USA asking India to train foreign army.

They are countless more. Now just put word "begging" in place of them and see the difference. The interpretation is altered. :azn:

However it is one of the rarest case where changing title/words/meaning is so blatently supported and defended. :tsk:

Bharat Verma is editor, Indian Defence Review , so we should take him seriously, what he says
