India bans Pakistani TV channels in Held Kashmir

Try propagating that Texas needs to go to Mexico,or Afghanistan belongs to Taliban in a TV channel in America and u will not know wat hit u.



Not the entire decision making process should be taken by the Govt....but one thing that can ge done by the Govt is to give the viewers channels with less hate,less propaganda.

I wouldn't be stopped for airing any such views in USA - I would be considered a lunatic, but that's not the point. If one holds such views, you are free to express them in USA - Afghanistan belongs to Taliban or that Texas should go to Mexico or that both belong to Nepal. No one is going to stop you from saying either thing.

You simply don't get the whole concept of democracy. Banning something gives it importance and people would tune into it more. The Brits banned making salt - Gandhi went on the Dandi march. Gujarat has banned booze - it is one of the highest consumers of booze in India. And riots can be incited anywhere in India - so why not ban all news channels except Doordarshan since we know for sure - that of course Doordarshan will be non-partisan and unbiased.

Are you Indian at all, sonny? Do you know how India functions? Delhi seats the throne of our government that all states comply to as a national level. People from all over India constitute this government. Kashmiri sepratists were given enough chances since the late 80s and still didn't listen.

BTW USA is not surrounded by trigger happy nuclear armed enemies so there's no comparison. Separatist alienation is because of their own problem of listening to fundamentalist anti-national louts and working like zombies in their path.

Sure, we already have a bunch of idiots asking for Texas to secede from the USA. Nothing will hit you here. The government cannot shut you down. It is called the right of free speech and First Amendment rights. Jackdaws is correct. Right of Free Speech is an absolute right. It is not subject to negotiation. You can sue someone in a court for violation of privacy or if the speech goes against any enacted law but cannot ban or cut off private views. Government cannot be in private business and that's the end of that. What next? India will start censoring You Tube for extremist views from pakistan. Where will this stop? You cannot arrest someone for an intent to kill someone else. The actual act is when it IS done. Similarly, intent to destabilize India is not enough for punishment, the actual act is. Censoring leads to the opinion that something is wrong with the party that is censoring and everything right about the party that is airing the views. That may not be a position that the Indian Government wants to expound in Kashmir.

There will be many loonies in USA who will be praising Mullah Omar and Osama to the skies. Why USA - guys like Zakir Naik do it in India as well. Zakir Naik is probably the most watched religious figure on TV in Bombay after Baba Ramdev and he is busy convincing Muslims that Osama is a good man. Of course, the Indian govt. or Maharashtra govt. will not ban him - it could cost them the next election since the Muslims form such a major constituency - Zakir does not even have a court case against him despite being denied a visa to the UK for being a hate monger.
