India-Bangladesh Relations: The way forward

opening a bangladeshi bank is risky is it not?
if the relations get sour...and the bank decides to shut it's operations...who'd be left high and dry?
opening banks would happen when other CBM precursors follow...

What kind of CBM were in place before putting anti dumping allegation on Bangladeshi Batteries in Indian market and ban them on importing??? What kind of CBM were in place before banning BD cements?
Once BD were flourished with Indian consumer goods and clothes. Now you dont find them in BD market as our products are of superior quality and price. Its free market and you got a compete instead of putting unholy barrier on BD products and financial institutions.

PS: your businessmen are investing $5 bln and that does not require any CBM but some banks want to open LC will bring the world to an end. what a ridiculous analogy. There are more or less half a million worker working in BD and that also does not require CBM. India export more than $3 bln which does not require CBM. India wants to send their goods through BD which also does not require CBM.

Thanks

NEW DELHI - Indo-Bangladesh defense ties are on the upswing under the Sheikh Hasina government in Dhaka. A high-level Bangladesh Air Force delegation led by the country's air chief, Air Marshal S.M. Zia-ur-Rehman, is in New Delhi to discuss defense ties between the neighboring countries, a senior Indian Defence Ministry official said.

India is ready to export to Bangladesh defense equipment, including the Advanced Light Helicopter, and to assist the country in building warships, the ministry official said.

New Delhi is concerned about the increasing levels of defense supplies being sent from China to Bangladesh, Defence Ministry sources here said.

There are reports the Chinese Navy has access to Bangladesh's Chittagong port, the sources said. China already has a military base on the Coco islands, leased from Myanmar, near India's Andaman islands, which is considered a listening post over the eastern part of India, including India's ballistic missile center in the eastern state of Orissa. China is also helping Pakistan build the Gwadar deep-sea port.

China has sold artillery systems, combat aircraft and small arms to Bangladesh in the last two years.

The Bangladesh air chief will hold talks with Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Indian Navy Chief Adm. Sureesh Mehta and Army Chief Gen. Deepak Kapoor.

India helped Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan, during its 1971 independence war against Pakistan. Fire has been exchanged along the border between the countries in cases relating to forced migration and smuggling.

stick to the to trade barrier discussion rather than slipping sliding. By doing so you are once again showing nature of relation indians wants to discuss - one sided hegemonic market.

Delhi will give BDR all help, says BSF chief

SANAT, MUKHERJEE, KOLKATA

The BSF further acknowledged that Bangladesh government had already taken several relation-boosting measures, and it had dismantled various camps of northeast militants. He further acknowledged that after the installation of new government in Bangladesh, Dhaka had assured us that it would not provide shelter to any Indian separatist outfits.
Talking with media persons at Agartala, the capital city of Tripura, today, the BSF director general assured, "India would further tighten the vigil along the 4,095 km-long international border with Bangladesh by increasing border outposts (BOPs) from 1,411 to 1,882 and deploying more BSF troopers with modern gadgets and devices."
The BSF chief M L said that, "after the fencing, border crimes have come down considerably". He disclosed that to strengthen the long India-Bangladesh international border, the central government "has sanctioned floodlighting along the India-Bangladesh border for better protection of the frontier."
The head of the Indian paramilitary force was on a visit to Tripura and was reviewing border management strategies with senior BSF officials. He disclosed that to strengthen the eastern as well as western border, the Indian government had already sanctioned 29 more BSF battalions.
Referring to perfect understanding with the BDR, Kumawat said that after the February BDR mutiny at Peelkhana in Dhaka, entire security arrangement along the India-Bangladesh had been strengthened and BSF troopers maintained highest vigil to thwart illegal sneaking of any untoward element.

First of this was news already posted, try reading the thread from the begining before posting.

It's probably you that dont want these weapons, but you are not the one who is going to decide. It will be evaluated by your defence ministry and army. I am pretty sure you they will make right choice for BD. As far those warships are converned, please can you provide some links to your claim. Plus cyclone is not small tropical storm.

You are a BNP supporter aren't you? If seeking a friendly relationships with it's neighbour makes her stooge, the she is. Regardless of what you say nearly 50% of country voted for her.

Regardless of what you say nearly 50% of country voted for her.

Sure they did to bring socio-economic change. Not to be stooge for indian ploy. But interestingly, it seems almost 100% indians voted for her and indian state machinery were working to elect their cherished stooge. She is more popular in india than in Bangladesh.

^^ you cant prove that obviously...surely if india decides what govt. would come to power...then there is very little you can do....no qn. of a war happening ever...
think over it...not everyone wants war...having good relations with yuor neighbors doesnt hurt.
