This is the rajapakse family firm with all ministers family members of the PM. They all speak for each other and were paid hundreds of millions in corruption by the Chinese. The money safe in offshore accounts. They were decisively voted out by the Sri Lankans and the port contracts reviewed. What he says is part of the coverup to muddy waters so this presented as a China vs India issue. It isnt. Its about Rajapakse clans corruption.
To hell with Sri Lanka or her corrupt politicians! India never had any interest in policing Sri Lanka or its corrupt internal politics.
If India is ever compelled to interfere with who SL wants to deal with, it is mainly because of India's own security ramifications!
Sri Lanka has time and again, taken anti-India stands at crucial times - even when they had the choice of taking neutral stand! It is for this reason that India has to, time and again, caution Sri Lanka not to do anything harmful to Indian interests!
Here comes the girlfriend.Ok investment is a good thing. But Sri Lanka lets Chinese submarine land in their water too.Its enough sign for us.If they play against India's interest they will played by us ..Don't be a crybaby.Blame their higher authorities & citizens ..
Exactly! The Sri Lankans have always tried to take an
antagonistic stand against India even when they could very easily have stayed
NEUTRAL!
Right from Cold war era, when SL allowed US the SIGINT facilities against India at her Radio Ceylon stations to
Sri Lanka's active support to Pakistan during 1971 war by allowing Pakistani Navy berthing facilities and PAF the refueling facilities when they could have easily chosen to stay NEUTRAL!
Pak thanks Lanka for help in 1971 war
1971 India Pakistan War: Role of Russia, China, America and Britain
So then what do you expect the 'bitch' Indira Gandhi (paraphrasing Nixon's words) to do to Sri Lanka in return for their favors?
Everybody talks about Indian support to LTTE, but selectively forgets what role Sri Lanka played against India in her earlier conflicts with Pakistan (during 1971 war, which actually predates the ghastly LTTE violence) and with the US (during cold war days).
Remember, there were several other smaller countries
(like Nepal, Bhutan and even Myanmar) which were much more closer to the actual conflict zone in East Pakistan but chose to play it wise by staying neutral!
