India army units' unusual movements spooked govt: report

Interesting to note who posted this news, in their country such things are commonplace. In India such things would never happen, soldiers swear an oath to uphold democracy and their constitution not unconditional support to a COAS. Utter BS, these soldiers would rather die than undertake such action. Stupid Indian media again, sensationalist and ignorant fear mongerers, such manoeuvres are routine, end of.

There is a group of fools with vested interest in bad mouthing the general who have been active of late. First reports of general himself leaking the letter to MoD and now this crap...

Now I do realize how much the crony defense lobbies are active in the background..

HAIL General V.K.Singh for court martialling Lt.Gen ranks as well for corruption.

there will always be some shekhar guptas who would like to have a moment of glory in their entire lifetime as a looser. Most importantly, corruption should be rooted out in defense purchases..

. .

if i'm not wrong its a routine procedure to inform the local civilian officials before army troops movement

Not for mob scheme validations. And not for night movements. Daytime move requires intimation to civic authorities so that coordination can be done in order to facilitate movement of the convoys as civil traffic also plies . Nothing else is required to be done.

... 2 Divi movement without info.. dont blame the Civil Gov for being spOoOOOked :smokin:

Not 02 Divisions. Just one regiment of Mech Inf and a detachment of Para. Enough assets in Delhi for army to do something if it wants to in any scenario. No need for troops to be brought so large distances.

By making India a joke on the world stage? Hope GoI brings some defamation case against him and his paper.

According to the reports I saw in TV, there is no less than 12,000 troops in Delhi itself.

Yes. The level we want to achieve as per our own Perspective Plans need continued upgradations and inductions. Since induction of any system to attain sufficient levels is a time consuming process the aim is to drive in the imperative point of need to make modernisation an ongoing process. So we do love to feed such stories.

At present our force levels and equipment is fairly sufficient to deal with present situations.

. . . .
True. Some Indians never value the freedom in their hands, hell they don't even go out and vote as it is un cool. When people, young and old, died and dying for the freedom in Middle East/Myanmmar etc here we have Indians dissing the very freedom that they got in a silver platter. Pathetic to say indeed.

I am asking why should we vote? just see the few choices for people in UP Mayawathi/Mulayam singh , Delhi Sheila/ Susma ,TN Karunanidhi/Jayalaitha , KA Deve gowda /Yedurrapa , YSR (now Jagan) in AP etc... now tell me whom do they vote for?(last time I caste my vote in 49'o').

Just see the parliament ,it functioning like a vegetable market always our leaders(unfortunately) shouting ,jumping , tearing papers ,throwing mikes that made as playground. Whole world watching our parliament discussion but those a$$holes never thinking abt that as usual they behaving like monkeys without shame.

Judicial system is another hell which root of all evils , corruption which is omnipresent even you can't get birth/death certificates without giving bribe, multi-party system , lack of political will and many more. I don't feel anything proud abt our democracy there is nothing in it to chest thumping. Actually we need disciplined govt. ,I think situation would be better under military rule.Cheap politicians like lalu ,Kalmadi ,Karunanithi ruled states for many years and they looted lot of money without dng nothing to people. If our political system is failed means better military can take over the country those people securing our borders and dying for our country they are best wen compared to cheap politicians.

India's elite paratroopers meet their match in fog, traffic during mockup

India's elite Parachute Brigade, based in Agra , has of late practised two quick manoeuvres designed to test its readiness for quick armed intervention in India's immediate neighbourhood.

According to top sources, the 50 Independent Para Brigade played out two different scenarios depicting the need for a quick operation almost akin to the situations that obtained in Maldives last month and the consequences of the mutiny by the Bangladesh Rifles (now Border Guards, Bangladesh) two years ago.

During the exercise, elements of the brigade travelled by road from Agra to Delhi [ Images ] to link up with the Indian Air Force base at Hindon on the outskirts of the capital, since the recently acquired medium lift transport aircraft, the C-130 Js are stationed there.

According to the latest plans worked out between the Army and the Air Force, these aircraft are to be used for any such out of area contingencies since they have the range and capability to fly more troops and equipment.

Sources involved in the operation told rediff.com that during the exercise, several unforeseen complications in the smooth execution of the well laid out SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) were noticed.

For instance, the thick blanket of fog that envelops North India in the winter months, slowed down the advance of troops from Agra to Delhi. Elements of the Para Brigade tasked to pick up vital equipment and weapons (read missiles and special ammunition) from a well-concealed depot in Bharatpur (near Agra but in Rajasthan [ Images ]) lost a lot of time in negotiating traffic and fog on the narrow roads in the area.

So, instead of the estimated three hours that the Parachute Brigade had given itself for the journey between Agra and actual take off from Hindon, troops took almost four-and-a-half hours, a 90-minute delay that could prove to be expensive in real-life situation.

Following the deficiencies noticed during the conduct of the exercise, the Army HQ has taken a decision to establish a dedicated arms and ammunition storage facility for the special equipment to be co-located with the Parachute Brigade at Agra.

Another fallout of the Para Brigade's exercise was the realisation that thick, unrelenting fog in North India could actually create an unforeseen obstacle for the movement of India's mechanised forces -- most of India's armour strength is located in the north Indian states -- in case they need to mobilise at short notice. So, some elements of armoured forces were also moved around in winter months to understand real-time problems they may encounter because of both fog and traffic.

Of course it is, the 50 Air independent PARA brigade are the QRF of the IA ready to be deployed anywhere in the world at short notice but are deployed in Agra (home of the IAF's PARA school btw) but the Quick reaction/SOAR C-130s are based at Hindon (outskirts of Delhi) so this brigade moving from Agra to Delhi (Hindon) is no surprise and a VERY common occurrence for those who aren't ignorant monkeys looking to jump on a band wagon and create nonsense stories like talk of coups!! Anyone who knows anything about the Indian armed forces would rubbish such news as quickly as they read the headline.

Before "Desi" journalism was a nuisance but now, in this case, it is damn right dangerous in the effect it has on the IA to the common (ignorant) people who could buy into this BS.
