Exactly this is the same thing I said earlier in other thread.

Space is future, oil is not gonna sustain our future development, the Asteroid mining or He=3 mining is not gonna be a tech. of one day, this require a small baby steps. The MoM is just a one baby step, it not gonna effect currently, but yes as whole it is gonna have much effect on Indian future space research, which lead to space energy extraction.

Interesting topic and most interesting part is that it is opened with the intention to have a discussion and not to troll. I am all in favor of this kind of exploration. India is on the right path and they know where they need to put in their money.It is not so that they are not spending in health care,education or infrastructure but to live in this world and to show your capability you have to divert some funds towards this kind of development. It is easy for me to associate it with real life. Whenever someone from subcontinent travel abroad he comes with the vision to get settle there. He earn hard money and give away everything for his future generations.India is on that path only. They have vision and they are doing hard work for their future generations. They are going to have a very bright future with the pace they are going on.

ISRO is into the business of launching satellites and making money - in millions of dollars, and, quite successful at that. They have till date launched 40 non Indian satellites successfully and are getting better at it every day.

This was a technology demonstrator and ISRO is taken quite seriously by every nation that dreams of a satellite in space and others who are veterans at it. Antrix makes millions of dollars.

Generations of Indians have grown up reading about Aryabhatta and Rakesh Sharma. Next Generations will get inspired by reading about Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan. We are sure to witness huge number of highly motivated Science enthusiasts in coming generation. This factor alone is sufficient to launch further such exploration missions.
