Russia is fighting for Tajikistan as Its Russia who in Charge of Tajikistan's defence..and any deal that will be placed on this air bases will be trilateral(Indo-Russia-Tajik),not Bilateral.

your guess is true..Russia is in Charge of protection of Tajikistan and Tajik is protected by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_CIS_Air_Defense_Systemwhich operates S-300(and a lot of other weapons..I already posted that list once in this thread)

Why would Russia fight for Tajikistan if its the Dushanbe deciding to fight other country's war assuming a highly unlikely scenario here ? Is there any collective defense pact between India and Tajikistan that I do not know of yet ?

Last time I heard and now that article is posted , Kremlin isn't enthusiastic about Indian presence in that country ...

I think Tajikistan is just interested in fixing the airbase and wants to make some money ,they will never allow any foreigner to attack using their airbase and ofcourse Big Daddy Russia will never allow anybody including india to operate from CIS.Providing logistic and treating wounded NA is what india is going to use the base for ,every thing else is Wet Dream from Brain Dead Indian[BDI]

The answer to that expensiveness of operating the base lies in geography actually , your country doesn't share a border with Tajikistan and neither the Chinese nor Pakistanis would ever allow Indian fighter jets supply from their airspace ... As simple as that , it is a base alright , for supporting NA and maybe keeping tabs in Afghanistan , but fighting a war from there is not possible in my opinion ... What say you ?

Well you are right , because Tajikistan has offered those bases to various countries until now even the US for the right amount of money , think of it ... Dushanbe isn't big to involve herself in other countries war putting the country at risk ... Russians do not like anyone else in CIS , not even their best friends , they already have a base in that country ... Why share another one with other country ? Helping NA seems more realistic than claiming to base fighter jets and helicopters ...

Well , that report isn't from my media , it sums up opinions from analysts of all three countries who are of the opinion that Dushanbe doesn't want difficulty with other countries ... I will tell you something here , you cant keep something such as basing a whole squadron of fighter jets secret in this age ...

Good article, this is exactly what I've said earlier about this base and India's ambitions and "geo-strategic" plans for this base. It was a pleasure to see the Indians squirming for them to realize their false sense of strategic advantage. They will not be allowed to use the AFB for offensive operations or armed hostile operations against a country; as if Tajikistan is going to allow their territory to be used for India's military escapades.

The base has got everything to support offensive measures on Pakistan soil. The only thing lacking is the Fighters aircraft which can be deployed in short notice during crisis situation. It has latest air defence warfare, radars to track aircraft and much long and broad runway which is needed to carry uninterrupted operation from a full fledged combat base. India-Russia-Tajik are playing it softly and cautiously. They surely don't wanna make these an international issue.
