India accuses Pakistan of fomenting Sikh militancy in Indian Punjab

.
Yes outside of India read my comment carefully and the article alludes to this as well sir.
Yeah sir it is a known fact that some sikhs are against India. But what you said is reverse. You said
Not all but a huge bunch of them.
which is quite opposite. Not huge but small amount of sikhs are Anti India just like how some Balochis are anti-pakistan.

. . .
these politicians are dumb....

if they are funding, tackle them, hit them but dont showoff in public

NEW DELHI: India accused Pakistan's intelligence agency on Wednesday of trying to recruit and train militants to carry out attacks across the border in the Indian state of Punjab.

Indian Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde accused Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency of pressuring Sikh militant leaders to target Indian Punjab and other parts of the country.

“There has been some significant development on the Sikh militancy front,” Shinde said in New Delhi. “Its commanders based in Pakistan are under pressure from ISI to further ISI's terror plans not only in Punjab but also in other parts of the country,” alleged the Indian minister.

“The Sikh youths are being trained in ISI facilities in Pakistan.”

The minister singled out the threat to the northwestern state during a speech to state chief ministers gathered in New Delhi for an annual conference on internal security.

Shinde claimed Indian Punjab was also being targeted, with “a large quantity of arms and ammunition and explosives” seized by police in the last year after being allegedly smuggled across the India-Pakistan border.

Sikh youths living in Europe and the United States were also being encouraged to travel to Pakistan to train for terrorist-related attacks, Shinde told the conference.

'Maoist threat'

Also addressing the conference, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh urged the state and national governments to work together to curb the “very grave threat” of Maoist insurgents in central India.

He has previously described the rebels as the country's most serious internal security threat.

Are we stupid?

Having a sikh state, will be a disaster for Pakistan. It will be a singular language, singular religion state, which will form the basis for Sikh nationalism. Do we want that on our doorsteps?

I'd rather have Hindus taking care of them by an iron fist, than having a sikh state on our doorstep with a military of its own and then us having to deal with it.

We should maintain connections with them but training them is a bad idea. A stateless sikh is a peaceful sikh. If they really want freedom, they should learn from Jinnah and Gandhi. Their struggle should be long term but peaceful.

Should those efforts turn futile, they can copy the Libyan and Bosnian model for insurgency, which may not be successful, unless they are willing to fight to the end by creating a popular uprising. It will be a bloodbath, we must not see on our border.

Sikhs should make peace with the rest of India and just calm down.

And lets not forget that if their demand for a seperate country is met by India, then guess what they will be coming for next???

Next demand will be to reunite Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Punjab which is essentially what they consider the Sikh confederacy traditionally which is highly revered by them....

Its a double edged sword for those Pakistanis wishing this upon Indians..

Not really. If Pakistan are actually funding the Sikh militancy and they do achieve independence, they would be our allies naturally because we have helped them.

Also this will give confidence to the 27 other separatist movements in India to carve out a piece of land to call their own.

A territorially weaker India with an ally in the middle will make India back away from funding militancy in Pakistan and we can finally have some peace.

@Aeronaut To reply briefly, we simply CANNOT afford such an misadventure given the state of our own country. Such meddling is not the realm of those teetering on the brink of disaster themselves. Others far clever and resourceful than us will simply use such a plan and turn it against us to add to our already intractable problems which we will not be able to survive.

Sir there are serious misgivings in that supposed claim. Judging that claim on its merit we see following aspects.

1: Contrary to Sikh dominated Indian Punjab, Pakistani Punjab is Muslim dominated and is no longer a province of Punjabis any longer, other ethnicities have embraced the province and its culture.

2: Hassan Abdal and Nankana Sahib are Muslim majority areas, where we have taken genuine steps to allow unrestricted access to pilgrims from other provinces of Pakistan,India and other parts of the world. It by no means is a Sikh city.

3: By Indian constitution, Indian Punjab is your "internal" affair and the sikhs have an inherit right to self determination. It does not apply to Pakistan. There are hardly any sikhs to speak of.

4: Even if Khalistan becomes a reality, and they lay claim to Lahore and other "holy sites" and they want to go on a "conquering spree" than they will be up against the world's 6th largest Army on one side and 3rd largest on the other...is that a smart strategy?....lets say war breaks out, between Pakistan and Khalistan. But before that they will have to build a military force for 30 years to establish a deterrent and then grow their offensive capability to attack on Pakistan and defend against India at the same time. Pakistan has strategic weapons, such a miscalculation will be disastrous for Khalistan....they are more likely to lose territory.

5: I don't see them laying a claim on our cities as credible threat to Pakistan. I believe that they don't deserve a state, if they do make a state it will be troublesome because most of us are multicultural states. Having a chauvinist singular state in this region will be disastrous,i am just against that narrative. They should just calm down and accept that they aren't capable of carving out a state from India. Its better for them to live as loyal citizens of India and stop such efforts at once.

A highly optimistic approach my friend...

Let me just remind you of a country called Bangladesh whose people are still unfriendly to India....even though we helped them achieve independence....
And Sikhs have traditionally never had a fondness to muslims historically speaking of course...

Lastly....what makes you think that the "mecca" of the Sikhs will be so easily given up by them?
If they can kill their own PM for the sake of their religion, you best not test their resolve....

Also this will give confidence to the 27 other separatist movements in India to carve out a piece of land to call their own.

If the fundamentals of India were so weak, this country would not have survived the last 60 years....
Indian national identity is quite strong if you havent noticed...and I wouldnt bet on it otherwise..

A territorially weaker India with an ally in the middle will make India back away from funding militancy in Pakistan and we can finally have some peace.
Since I dont believe we are funding any militancy in Pak, Ill stay away from this comment...

PS: A landlocked state of Punjab will be a massive headache as it will have to deal with Pak or India for its access to trade, oil, etc etc....it will end up becoming a swing state (call it puppet if you will) at the end of the day with both India and Pak trying to control it...
India will use its traditional roots and history of Punjab politics to sway the political leaders their way...Pakistan will support the Khalistanis....It could very well become a civil war situation.....much like Afghanistan...
Just dont expect this to be as rosy as you think it will be
