There are places in Kerala where NDF is strong....... pockets of Malappuram, Karunagappally, Kozhikode, perumbavoor, etc etc........ NDF is an extreme organisation, to an extent replacement of SIMI/ISS......... But then the article posted is on a issue happened 16 years back.......
So, how are things there now? Have they improved or gotten worse? There are places in Kerala where NDF is strong....... pockets of Malappuram, Karunagappally, Kozhikode, perumbavoor, etc etc........ pork beef whatever it is should be legal. Let people themselves decide what they want and do not want to eat. This topic has been debated intensively and I will state my views again. This (beef ban) does not happen in a truly secular country. It is against the secular fabric of the state. If someone else eats it how does it hurt you bhai?go for it and don't forget to invite me
It still doesn't change the fact that they are violent and borderline terrorists.
Number of years don't change reality bub.
Well they have to sugarcoat it, don't they. Not Secularism ,its the fear that allows such things
So, how are things there now? Have they improved or gotten worse?
Its why we don't eat dogs, cats, tigers, elephants, bears now. Rationally there should be no difference if they are farmed for meat. There are not many countries who buy into that kind of rationality. I personally have no issue with beef, go as far as to think any ban imposes huge economic costs but I'm the not the person who is affected. As I said, when we have the guts to take on all religions equally, maybe we can revisit the question. After all, why should Hindus or Christians be bound by a religious principle of not creating images of someone when it has no connection to their religion. Why not allow offensive cartoons? We are not secular in the actual sense of the word, more a country which makes many compromises. There is a reason the founding fathers did not put in the word "secular" in the constitution, they were clearly aware that they were making many compromises which includes religion based laws as also talking about preventing cow slaughter.
Your fight for true secularism as a "rational" person cannot start & end with cow slaughter. Can't cherry pick on this matter.
In that case you havent read my entire post...... and i have first hand info on them (dont have to depend on articles in in net )
They are still the same if not worse......hand chopping was a strategy to convey a message ......
So, how are things there now? Have they improved or gotten worse?
So why are they self praising themselves as the "last Citadel of Secularism in Hindu India"?Gone worse ,last year they stopped giving Mid-day meals to school children (
Kerala schools stop serving midday meals during Ramzan ) ....Secular media and secular politicians dont care about such incidents
As I told you, you are nuts finding religion on farts too..
So why are they self praising themselves as the "last Citadel of Secularism in Hindu India"?
Probably because they are NOT secular. The rest of India is.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Beef cooked in the open and Hindus and Muslims sitting together for a meal - this was how a section of people in Kerala protested today against the recent ban on the meat in Maharashtra.
Beef in Kerala means both cows and buffaloes and its consumption has no religious overtones. Not only do some Hindus here eat beef, going by sales figures, it is also the most-favoured meat in the state.
The annual sale of beef is estimated at 2.3 lakh metric tonnes against the corresponding figure for poultry -- 1.51 lakh metric tonnes.
"I am a Hindu. I should be given the freedom to eat whatever I want, even when I am eating this," said Ajith P from Kannur, who was at the protest of DYFI, the state CPM's youth wing, at Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
Sharing the dish with him was Ajeeth Muhammad. Though a supporter of Muslim League, he said he didn't mind backing a cause. "None of us here have issues with beef consumption. It is part of Kerala's culture. How can we be stopped from eating something we want to?" he said.
Heading the protest, DYFI's B Biju said, "This is a token protest against the ban of beef in Maharashtra and a warning for anyone who would want to implement the same in Kerala. Any ban our food will not be acceptable."
A state panchayat law lays clear guidelines for slaughterhouses - that an animal can't be slaughtered unless it is over 10 years old, or has been made unfit for work or breeding due to injury or deformity.
Digging into the beef curry before returning to the Assembly, CPM legislator P Sreeramakrishnan said, "I eat my beef. And so do many others in Kerala. Nothing will change."
Last week, President Pranab Mukherjee ratified the Maharashtra Animal Preservation (Amendment) Bill which bans the slaughter of calves and bullocks.
Anyone found selling or eating beef can be jailed for five years and finedRs.10,000. Only the consumption of buffaloes, which give inferior quality beef, will be allowed.
Beef traders - thousands of whom will be jobless - and a section of people in social media have protested against the ban, with hashtag #BeefBan trending for a while on Twitter.
