In Oman, innovation meets tradition

.
The longest ruling Arab head of state, Sultan Qaboos passed away not long ago after ruling as a Sultan since July 1970. Almost half a century. He is rightly considered the modern father of Oman and it was good to see GCC unity at his funeral.

Did not always agree with the Omani foreign policy but he was overall a good ruler. Will be interesting to see how his successor Sultan Haitham will behave. Many challenges ahead of him and hoping for even closer KSA-Omani ties.

Looks like the new Sultan knows what the future has in store and the inevitable regional GCC integration that will inevitably be dominated/led by the strongest party (as throughout history). That and Oman's growing economic dependence on KSA.

We need another Ibn Saud this time to unite all of Arabia.

The new Sultan of Oman has held several meetings with highly important figures from KSA. It is encouraging to see a new chapter emerging. Relations with Oman should increase and hopefully the highway linking the two countries will be finished very soon as well as the GCC railway.

Something is brewing. Could be the situation in Al-Mahra or the situation in Yemen in general (smuggling, mediation etc.) or general GCC security.

Well-known and up and coming Greek Tennis player doing some great PR for our Omani brethren. Oman is truly a gem on a global scale. What I admire the most, aside from their hospitality and friendliness, is probably their architectural traditionalism. Everything looks old/ancient. Even the new stuff. That is not always an easy thing to imitate. Obviously it helps having a somewhat small population but nevertheless it is very admirable.

Not much different from the dear Yemenis.
