Castrating rapists proven of horrific crimes might be a fit punishment (of course in addition to jail time etc) and a deterrent to other rapists...
Indian courts should consider this seriously IMO...very rarely do I praise "Sharia-type" laws, but they do have a psychological deterrence value..

Are you crazy ? Even the FIR will not have been filed by now. Only preliminary investigation will be conducted. It will all depend on what charges are filed in the FIR. If charges are dropped in the FIR then the case will not even reach the court.

Understand how the law works before commenting on it.

Even if charges are framed in the FIR, a plea bargain can be made and a reduced sentence can be agreed upon if the public prosecutor agrees or if there is political will. The judge will then just approve the plea bargain.

calm down. even if police tone down the charges the family of the deceased can still go court against it. Plea Bargain if i am not wrong is not part of Indian judicial system. Can any one elaborate on it.

I am calm. Police does have discretionary powers to drop charges. Plea bargaining has been introduced in the CPC via the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2005. Google it up.

Castration is of no use nowadays when medical science and technology are so advanced.
Do you know about Pen*le grafts using the thigh muscle flap technique?We can literally make a new and Improved Pen*s for the ones who had accidental castration, hell many women undergo sex change operation that Urologists will implant new organs on them and they are dime a dozen in pron industry.
As for ED =Erectile Dysfunction sufferers we have Pen*ile prosthetic implants.Even a 90 year old with these prosthesis can have s*x anytime any time he wants nowadays and the results and sensation are the same as normal natural one, not to mention the variety of Erection drugs in market, soon there will be gene therapy to completely rid of ED in males already there is lot of work done and some are in test trials it will be out in some 5-10 years.

So i don't know how any castration works if the person is in touch with latest medical developments he will pay money to a urologist and claim he was accidentally castrated and the UroSurgeon will make him a new appendage any time.

Well friend, lets be honest...not every person can afford these expensive medical treatments nor is even aware of such advancement in medicine..
So for the largely rural and uneducated population of India where rape is rampant (not to say that the elite and educated dont have their share of crimes) we can create some deterrence I feel..

TBH i think the Indian man has to be psychologically scared out of raping as with a patriarchal society with little accountability, its become a free ride for rapists at this point...and such tactics I feel might work.

you are forgetting that the deceased person's family members are also a party in this case. without their consent it wont be possible to drop the case or change the charges.

Not every person can afford these expensive medical treatments?
The semi rigid pen*ile prosthesis i told you before costs around 10,000 inr at most around 20,000 Inr.
The whole operation would cost around 30-50,000 Inr.
While the Hydraulic Inflatable prosthesis which we call it a three piece one costs from 1 lakh to 2 lakhs depending on the company and model.The whole operation would cost around 3 lakhs at most.

Semi rigid prosthesis is routinely transplanted onto accident victims, who cannot afford the Hydraulic but want to get married etc.
This semi rigid ones are used in rural area folks, while the city ones can afford the new one.

I agree some wannabe rapists should be scared to deter them from doing it.
What i posted that knowledge about Surgical procedures and treatment was for general ED sufferers and Accidental castration victims who think their world has ended if they cannot get their weenie up or lost it.
Quality of life will be the same for them or even better than before, once they undergo this surgery and there is no need to feel depressed.
In this day a man doesn't need to feel shy about his problems all he has to do is go ask his Urologist about it and he will never have to worry about his weenie again.

As for the rapists they deserve to be lynched.Period.
