He's a man who has risen from a nobody to where he is today and he is humble about it; his mother still goes in an autorickshaw, his brothers still work in corner stores, petrol pump etc, his family still lives in the 10X8 houses typical of blue collared workers' houses.

He's reform minded and therefore is good for business. Gujaratis are business-minded and therefore industrial reforms actually made him a favourite among them. In short, his source of power is his ability to get things done:

1- the Businessmen get easier rules for businesses
2- Middle class gets jobs and education.
3- Lower class gets waiver, exemptions and concessions
4- Centrists get to observe progress
5- Hindu nationalists get to see a strong leadership they so cherish

In short, 5 targets with one mantra: get the damn thing done.
