Imran Khan promises two new cancer hospitals

Imran Khan has said he will build two new cancer hospitals as well as double the capacity of the existing one in Lahore

The cricketer-turned-politician made the announcement at a fundraising dinner at Atlantis on the Palm Jumeirah in aid of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, which runs the Lahore hospital.

"The move comes because of increasing demand as we are the only cancer hospital in the world which treats 75 per cent of the cancer patients free of cost without any government subsidy," Khan said.

Ground has been broken for a new cancer hospital in Peshawar and another in Karachi is at the planning stage, according to Khan.

"Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust Cancer Hospital in Lahore receives an average of 100 cancer patients every day while we can admit only 14 because the hospital is full," he said.

Khan said the hospital's yearly deficit was 2 billion Pakistani rupees (Dh81 million), met through fund-raisers.

"Overseas Pakistanis... contribute 40 per cent of the funds needed to run the hospital," Khan said.

More than Dh2 million was collected at the fund-raiser towards a new $1 million (Dh3.67 million) MRI machine.

"The more privileged you are, the more responsible you have to towards the needy," Khan said.

I would have also liked him to focus on rural schools and growth. Though this is a great thing too.

Well atleast he is trying to work for the better of the nation, and if he fails he has himself said he will leave the chair unlike all the usual politicians who have brought the nation to this level and are repeatedly coming to power.

Now people say experienced person is better than un-experienced person but all the usual politicians whether on the provincial levels or federal levels have experience in and are using all their expertise on how quickly and efficiently increase their bank balances.

At least give Imran Khan a try even if he not experienced in politics on the grounds to bring some new blood and some change.

Now people will say why don't we bring new blood from the sons and daughters and relatives of the all the usual politicians. Well that new blood is not more experienced than Imran Khan, and also if they get the chair they will be dictated by their elders who are more "experienced" than them.

Thats exactly what I have been trying to tell everyone who does not support Imran Khan. Its better to try for change then not trying at all. If we try at least we tried and failed rather than sitting on our ***** and voting for a corrupt government. I don't know about others but change, transparency, merit and education sound like good words to me. Words that haven't come out of the mouths of politicians for ages.

Give the guy a chance. If he fails send him to hell but at least we'll be known as people who tried to make Pakistan better. Whats so good about PMLN and PPP all voted in so many times and having failed to deliver.

If are you only stating facts, then you would have no problems with agreeing with me when I say
The two major parties are corrupt to the bone.
They both have stolen millions of dollars from the people of Pakistan
They both are responsible for the almost failed state status of Pakisan.
They both had a chance to invest and improve Pakistan but didn't.
Imran Khan has spent his life for Pakistan, by first building a Cancer hospital, then building a univiersity.
Imran Khan has no stolen assents
Imran Khan has no assets outside of Pakistan.

If you are only dealing in facts, then surly you must agree with all those facts.

Even a common man in street understands that present ruling parties have destroyed Pakistan to the level, where it needs rebuilding of every thing!!

IMO, a leader must have bigger vision than a yellow cab, BB support fund, cancer hospital, laptop etc.

Actually, building any thing is job of institutions and leader only is about vision and direction.

Building 2 cancer hospitals is good but I see more clever ways to have less cancer patients.

Frankly i dont trust anyone. I used to support Imran but not anymore. Apprerntly we are seeing his party becoming more like PML-N or Q-League.

If you want to run a country, then you need a lot more people like you. Imran Khan alone can't do anything. I mentioned earlier that this hospital plan is good work but its a temporary way of running a health care system. Depending everything on donation won't work long term. People are suffring economically due to world globalization and they will stop supporting this cause.

He needs to first work on general social values first on each individual. MATERIALISM is the biggest thing we are facing right now! Naturally once you have good natured/trustful people around you, then we will see much more stuff with stability.

I DO trust IK, however, i DON'T trust his party members. This is the difference. Imran alone can't do anything alone. His party was well respected before he brought thieves. Such thieves are landlords. They are the ones that came from PPP or PML-N, or PML-Q. They are not going to declare their assets.

Whatever it is, this health care system under his plans are not sustainable right now. If we want to run a country, then we should depend on our government's plan. Charity and stuff is like begging. Why would you want charity in the first place when you can increase your taxes?

Yes IK does want to increase taxes, however, i won't see everybody giving taxes without a law...
This is why i say, we need to first work on social developments individually first. We need to make and implement laws to govern our people correctly.

Remember, there was PTI's Jalsa and people stole chairs....
We need to work on making people ladies and gentlemen then giving them any another benefits!

I totally disagree to the 'welfare state system' proposed by IK which he described to be run on tax.

Advance countries first developed their human resources and facilitate industry to keep people employed.

Feeding large amount of people on small amount of tax payers would lead to destruction of society, followed by more evils.

In US Michigan state have closed welfare and they are facilitating business with the capital they have.

The idea of tax is to spent it on collective interest of tax payers but no for Jiala workers of respective political parties.

IK is planning to run his prospective govt. with hand picked goons, most of them will be PML-Noon loottay.

Judging by your response I think it is reasonable to assume that you have some financial incentive to spread your propaganda.
So, how much are they paying you?
And is the money worth selling your country for?
