Chandraketugarh is an archaeological site in west bengal dating to 2nd-1st century BC-AD, one mind blowing terracotta pot with images seemingly of hunting/war party shows both males and females holding what appears to be a sword resembling backward curved blade like talwar and buckler shields called dhals. Both Dhals and talwars have been said to have emerged not until islamic era of the indian subcontinent, while dhals have appeared in pre islamic indian arts, talwar are absent, they are said to have arrived in indian subcontinent after turkic conquest of india.
