Tomb of Shams-ud-din Iltutmish (r. 1211–1236) who was the third ruler of the Mamluk dynasty of Delhi of Turkic origin[1]. He was a slave of Qutub-ud-din-Aybak and later became his son-in-law and close lieutenant. He was the Governor of Badaun when he deposed Qutub-ud-din's successor Aram Shah and acceeded to the throne of the Delhi Sultanate in 1211. He shifted Capital from Lahore to Delhi , remained the ruler until his death on May 1, 1236.

Safdarjung's Tomb is a garden tomb with a marble mausoleum in New Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style, and was described as "the last flicker in the lamp of Mughal architecture".

Delhi was besieged by the British during the Indian Mutiny of 1857, and the gate was the scene of the final assault before the capture of the city by forces under Brigadier John Nicholson.

Saw this old thread , Kashmiri gate brings back memories when i was in Delhi. we lived close by in civil lines. This gate still exists .

good old times when Pakistan was under WoT and you were preaching secularism to them as messianic recipe of prosperity and longevity.

now these are targets for arson and reconquest in incredible india

The Building of New Delhi

An aerial view of the completed city with the war memorial at the end of Kingsway, or Rajpath. Today, this imperial avenue has become the site for some of Independent India's biggest national functions, including Republic Day parade.
