IHS Janes | China, Pakistan set for submarine deal by end of year.

The question is how capable these subs are... Wish our economy had not busted and we had bought U-214...

These are excellent boats - gonna be built to our specs, very comparable to the 214's

Why pakistan navy sleeping since 2006 not signing major deals in 2006 they signed for F 22 frigates all thanks to musharaf since than they are sleeping

Navy has not been sleeping, no funds have been allocated. Regrettably, only those projects are approved during “Democratic” gov’ts in Pakistan where there is opportunity to make money.

Past gov’t of PPP benefitted from the Mirage & French Submarine deals. Chinese deal would be Gov’t to Gov’t hence little chance of commissions. Building motorways & metro buses provides ample opportunity for everyone to have a slice of the cake.

True.
We are helpless.............

It's the S20, which means it's the scaled down version of the Yuan class.

Still, it's not bad, the PN is in desperate need of newer subs. This will alleviate some of the problems and shortcomings the PN is currently facing.

aren't your Agosta submarines good ?

There's nothing wrong per se with Agosta 90Bs, the others are just, well, old. Then again, old ships don't necessarily equate useless. See Singapore's acquisitions in this respect.

From what I know, they're in terrible shape. You'd have to ask someone more knowledgeable like horus or Oscar.

They recently were due for refits, especially the first built PNS Khalid, plus since it was not with AIP at production, they had to retrofit. I think on google earth you could see one of them in dry dock refits. Agosta 70s were upgraded with Subtics system. Perhaps @Rashid Mahmood can help.
