What's new

If Pakistan were to Vanish tomorrow how would it be ranked among the muslim empires of this region and middle east?

Same goes for y'all Indians. Even if a topic is slightly related to Pakistan, Indians swarm like brain dead Zombies.

And yes, Pakistanis should act like guardians. All Muslims are brothers and one should always help a brother in need.

Sorry. You should have specified this topic was only for Pakistanis to discuss. Bye.

Ghaznavid empire actually . My dp was their flag. See the resemblance.Lahore was their capital..

Actually my late mediaeval history is not too strong, but the Pakistan based dynasty that controlled much of Iran and Afganistan at its peak. Lodis? Durranis?

A nice story....

Well, Pakistan was in a much better situation before 1979... but they done a series of blunders...

Look last year India lost 5 MILLION people to COVID holocaust because of your own stupidity and policies, correct

Year before, China invaded, slaughtered your soldiers and created new rules on the ground, correct
The same year you enemy (Pakistan) completely out thought you in Afghanistan and you lost 20 years of planning and investment

Year before that, you lost 45 soldiers in a bombing, tried to act smart, got a jet shot down, POW taken and shot your own helicopter in panic, correct

Yet Modi is more popular than ever in the back of poisonous divisions amongst Indians at home

Think about that shit?

Pakistan certainly needs a complete revamp of its politics but India of late has hardly covered itself in glory

I think the title is too emotional for a rational analysis. If you want to discuss the issues dispassionately, make it sound neutral like Why some nations fail?

I think in Pakistan's case. though no one doubts Two nation theory as a general theory of Islamic nations, it turned out to be insufficiently cohesive to create a new successful nation. However, the relative success of Bangladesh proves other cultural factors can exercise the cohesion needed to create a successful nation (Language in case of Bangladesh?)

More importantly, the general question is, a large number of Muslim nations that are not oil exporting are in various stages of dysfunction. That should be the basis of analysis. What are the cultural factors that prevent, say, industries coming up in Muslim societies, why is there no excellence in education? Why is free speech and freedom generally suppressed, these are the issues. Because of these "infrastructure" issues, good governments have not developed in most Muslim nations.

But Pakistan can get inspiration by looking at Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia. They all seem to be successful though they all have problems that any large nation will have. It is particularly instructive how Malaysia has developed with a heterogenous population with a large Muslim population. Indonesia is also an impressive story - probably among the most successful non-oil Muslim nation.

Many accomplishments in a short space of time, holding a multi ethnic territory in such a hostile region and going nuclear with minimal funds is not easy.

However it is also a tale of missed opportunities especially on the western front. Should have made a play for the oil and gas fields.

Bangladesh barely has a healthcare setup of its own. India is Bangladesh's hospital. India is also Bangladesh's largest unorganised sector employer, taking a huge load off Bangladesh in terms of poverty alleviation and employment and basic supportive infrastructure for mouths to feed and bodies to clothe. All this is possible because Bangladesh never made the mistake of having a hot border with India.

No one argues Bangladesh is not a poor but developing nation. But it definitely does not look like a failure. It has a stable government, at peace with itself and neighbors, has made an impressive export industry. For a nation that was born out of a war only 50 years back and subject to periodic devastation due to weather, I think Bangladesh is successful. More importantly, as an Islamic nation, it has successfully resisted terrorism and nihilism for the past two decades. That is no small achievement. And that in spite of a major dumpster fire next door in Myanmar.

Yep, people generally ignore how much of a hostile environment Pakistan is placed in, especially Afghanistan as a neighbour and how much it tried to destabilise and invade us. The focus mainly is entirely on India.

There was also constant pressure on us from the outside not wanting us to progress too much. Even us being able to attain nukes was a matter of luck, as the Soviets had invaded Afghanistan so they didn't want to lose Pakistan's support.

Pakistan, as a state, failed to gain any significance or stature, at any level. Why would even it be mentioned in any future history book?
