Technically both jets are quite similar, range/ Thrust to weight ratio/ lift to drag ratio on paper Tejas has more advance features than JFT In terms avionics/radar ànd other stuff but it also on air force that how to utilize these stuff correctly in war (doctrine) I'm not saying that IAF is not having correct doctrine but in Feb 2019 JFT prove itself to deny your vastly Superior mirage 2000

I agreed!! Usually, war or such incidents the country wins by better planning, execution, and support of platforms..... if platforms are better then always add more contributions.

Feb 2019, the day PAF performed better because of better tactics, planning, and execution. It also exposed many IAF Loopholes including insecure communication (older Mig 21), shortage of Awacs Aircrafts, Air to Air missile ranges etc.

Jf 17 vs Mirage 2000- it is just a story of one side.. you will believe and the other part of the side will not because usually fake claims make during the WAR just like shooting down F16 and Su 30 MKI..

There is no contract in place for spares? It makes sense to raise another mirage squadron though.

Seems like the contract may have expired. Even Dassault may find it hard to source some spares that are near obsolete because the user base for the Mirage-2000 is much smaller now that the French have begun retiring many of theirs.

Anyway, this is what has been happening to IAF's Jaguar fleet as well, with retired Jaguars sourced from France, UK and Oman to be used primarily for spares and a few being completely re-worked and put back into IAF service.

The 8 that are fly-worthy will likely be put through an overhaul at HAL Bangalore and then added to the No.9 'Wolfpack' squadron which is basically a half strength Mirage-2000 squadron.

It seems clear that IAF is not happy with the performance of Tejas so they are still investing in decades old mirages

27 feb was not the small incident but was a battle between two modern air forces who were equipped with advance avionics and BVRs, which ended on humiliation of IAF when PAF out classes out gunned them after telling them in advance be ready we are coming in which JF-17 gets the bombing job

If JFT were not deny your mirages than your mirages had intercepted our JFT?? Again it BVR thingy JFT carried longer range SD-10 (100 KM RANGE) and your mirages carried MICA which has a range of 60 km range that why your mirages unable to intercept our strike pakage but you believe 24 jet along with f-16 theory

Tejas has been such a delayed and disastrous project taking so much time that India is forced into these purchases
