Is Indian Airforce happy with the current iteration? I believe they are not. I would agree with what your fellow members @punit and @jetray have said. This seems to be ploy to use move away from Russian fighters using AMCA as an excuse and go for some US or EU fighters instead. This is a very good news for US. Hope they have F-16s, F/A-18s and F-35s on their mind.

Excellent... DRDO can develop the prototype by 2047.

They know very well that DRDO will produce nothing but s***** and then they will say it is a failure. After that we will buy from some western country.
